SOL Liberty Division
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 34, HATBORO-HORSHAM 23
The Colonials went into halftime with an 11-8 lead. They came out of halftime and outscored the Hatters 17-10 to go on top 28-18 on their way to the win.
Sparking PW’s third quarter outburst was Liv Patete, who scored eight points in the quarter. Grace Harvey was a perfect 4-for- 4 at the foul line the quarter.
For the game, The Colonials were 12-for-18 from the free throw line.
Key players: Olivia Patete led a balanced PW attack with 13 points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds and four steals. Eliza Meersman added 10 points, which included a 6-for-9 effort at the foul line. She also had six rebounds as well.
For the Hatters, Angelica Visceglia led the way with 11 points.
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Dan Dougherty:
--The game: “Points were hard to come by in the first half (we were up 11-8 at halftime). Credit Hatboro players and coaches for coming out inspired and well prepared. Our girls were getting some good looks, just couldn’t get any to fall.
“At halftime, we were able to make a few adjustments to what they were doing, and started the third quarter on a 17-4 run, sparked by seven points from Liv Patete and four points from Grace Harvey. The other major halftime adjustment was to start Mia Baron in the third quarter. Her defensive energy and toughness lifted the whole team’s energy and propelled us to the win.
“With the win tonight, we finish the regular season 15-7; 8-2 in our division. Looks like we’ll be in the SOL playoffs and get a home game in districts, an unbelievable accomplishment for this group, very proud of them.”
Hatboro-Horsham coach Eric Glemser:
--Tribute to seniors:
“Mia Fisher was a four-year varsity player and three-year varsity starter, and she has been our leader on and off the court. Madison Duggan was our defensive stopper.
“Natalie Lin is the happiest player I ever coached, and she has the (highest) all-time 3-point shooter percentage in Hatboro-Horsham girls’ program history.
“Senior Izzie Allen was hurt most of the year but gave us a big presence on the inside.”
Hatboro-Horsham associate head coach Nicole Miletto:
--Props: “Tonight we had one of our best defensive games. The girls came out ready to go and they were patient in the first half. They had a three-point lead at half, and we felt like we had a good shot at keeping the score low. We struggled to start the second half but battled back.
“We knew coming in that PW was a good team, and they bring pressure. We were able to handle the pressure tonight with fewer mistakes than when we played them earlier in the year. It was a tough loss, but Coach Glemser told the team after the game he was happy about the effort and heart tonight.”
--Props: “Junior Ang Visceglia played well for us tonight and led us with 11 points. Senior Madison Duggan and sophomore Sarah Gleason again had a great defensive effort. Senior Izzie Allen had some nice blocks and grabbed a couple good defensive rebounds and took a charge for us.
“Senior Mia Fisher, who is always consistent for us, went down early in the second half and that was unfortunate. She helps settle the offense and keep us in check along with Visceglia. After Fisher went down, we went quiet for a bit, and they were able to build a 10-point lead.
“Senior Natalie Linn gave us good energy off the bench and helped spark us in the fourth. It wasn’t enough.”
Up next: Plymouth Whitemarsh will travel to Pennsbury for an opening round game of the SOL Tournament while Wednesday’s game marked the end of the season for Hatboro-Horsham.

NESHAMINY 43, VILLA MARIA ACADEMY 36
Ashlyn Duffy buried three 3-pointers in the first quarter, propelling Neshaminy to an early 13-4 lead. VMA outscored the Redskins 25-19 over the middle two quarters, trimming Neshaminy’s lead to 32-29, but the Redskins closed it out with an 11-7 quarter to secure the win. Nicole Trespalacios had five points in the final frame.
By the numbers: Hayley Kolk led the Redskins with 14 points, which included an 8-for-10 effort at the foul line. She scored 10 of her 14 points in the second half. Ashlyn Duffy added 11 points – all in the first half, Nicole Trespalacios had nine points and three steals while Mia Raivitch had seven points and four rebounds. Grace Weyler led the ‘Skins with four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Neshaminy coach John Gallagher:
--Key players: “Junior Ashlyn Duffy got us going in the first quarter by knocking down three three-point shots on only four attempts. Junior Hayley Kolk once again led us in scoring with 14 points and hit 7-for-8 from the free throw line in the second half.”
--The game: “Mia Raivitch scored seven points in the second half on huge baskets in crunch time. While only up 37-36 late in the fourth quarter, Nicole Trespalacios had a strong drive to the basket which netted us two points and then hit a three-point basket to extend our lead to a more comfortable 42-36 in the closing minutes.
“For the second night in a row, Grace Weyler led us in assists as she is able to get into a favorable position with her handle and find open teammates on the perimeter or cutting to the basket. Her ability to create team points and provide excellent defense was a key for us today.”
--Playing VMA - “I push real hard each year to play Villa Maria because it is a strong program with quality coaching that challenges us every time we play them. They are currently second in the 5A power rankings, and each year they make a strong run for a district championship. They present unique challenges with their inside game that we are not accustomed to within our league
“This game was a makeup of a snow date this month. For a game that really had no bearing on District seeding on 5A or 6A, it was extremely well played. Asking players to step on the court at 5pm with no JV game can cause a lackadaisical mindset, but both teams played extremely well under those circumstances.
“Villa guard Sophia Tray notched her 1,000 point late in the second quarter.”
Up next: Neshaminy, the tournament’s fifth seed, will be on the road at #4 William Tennent Friday in an opening round game of the SOL Tournament. Plymouth Whitemarsh, the sixth seed, will travel to #3 Pennsbury on Friday.
