Pennsbury & Bensalem were winners in SOL girls’ basketball action.

PENNSBURY 32, NESHAMINY 15
Points are at a premium when these two squads meet.
On Dec. 16, Pennsbury defeated Neshaminy 24-23, and on Tuesday, the Falcons made it a sweep of their two-game season series with their rivals.
Once again, it was a defensive struggle, and it was the Falcons who had the edge, limiting the Redskins to two points in each of the first two quarters.
Pennsbury – sparked by seven points from Joley Hohman – led 18-4 at halftime. The Redskins never threatened.
Key players: Sammie Haws had 11 points and Alyssa Thomas had nine to lead the Falcons.
Pennsbury coach Frank Sciolla:
--The game: “Tonight was a tremendous answer and response from our ladies on the road in a game with high stakes.
“At times this year, we’ve been up and down with certain parts of the game, but this weekend we really put some things in black and white and shared with each other what we think we can be.
“We really respect Neshaminy as they’re a tremendous program, and we knew they hadn’t lost at home yet this year, but we felt like we were really emotionally ready. “
--Props: “Joley Hohman was fantastic and got us started off offensively and she had a major impact on the backboard with six rebounds and more importantly, guarding all five positions and being a great communicator. I think her communication off the court is also essential in how we approached tonight.
“Alyssa Thomas was able to find her way to the rim for some big-time finishes, and we had to play most of the first half without Sammie Haws, which is definitely different for us, but to Sammie‘s credit, she came out in the second half and didn’t force anything and she knocked down a big three-pointer and had a big drive to the basket to seal the game.
“Grace Schaufler, another one of our sophomores, started tonight like she did in game one with them because of her ability to guard multiple positions, and she was great being physical on the backboard and with her communication. Milan Reeves came off the bench and her versatility really helped us as well.
“Tonight really started on Saturday morning for us, and I felt like our girls played like they truly believed who they are and what they can be.”
Up next: Pennsbury will host Council Rock North Friday, and Neshaminy will host Upper Dublin in a non-league SOL crossover game Wednesday.

The Owls – sparked by seven points from Mischa Ellzy - opened up an 18-4 lead after one quarter on their way to a win over the Tigers.
Key players: Grace McShane’s 14 points led the Owls. Mischa Ellzy added 11 points, and Mary Beck had eight.
Bensalem coach Steve Johnson:
“Truman played exceptionally hard for 32 minutes. They shared the ball, played tough defense, and rebounded the ball very well”
Up next: Bensalem will host Council Rock South Thursday, and Harry S Truman will travel to MaST Community Charter School in a non-league game Thursday.
