FIVE SOL TEAMS ADVANCE TO 2026 DISTRICT ONE TEAM CHAMPIOHSHIP’S ELITE-8
#2 Council Rock South, #3 Central Bucks East, #4 Pennridge, #7 Quakertown & #12 North Penn Remain in the Hunt for a D1 Title and a Chance to Move into the PIAA (AAA) Bracket

Five of the SOL’s best will be moving on to Upper Dublin HS to battle for the 2026 District One Team Title Saturday, January 31, 2026. To no surprise, second-seeded Council Rock South rolled over Oxford in round one action 59-11 and will matchup with Quakertown, the 7th seed, in quarterfinal action. Quakertown squeaked by Souderton (#10) 34-31. Quakertown downed the Indians earlier this season in another close match 35-29.
Quakertown ran off three straight wins after forfeiting to Souderton’s Dominic Ramos at 152-pounds, which gave the Indians a 1-point lead 22-21. Kyler Roesener picked up a huge win over Matt McCormick at 160lbs. 8-4, which was followed by Logan Pfistner’s major decision and an exclamation point pinfall by David Clayton at 189 to put the Panthers ahead 34-22. Souderton had a chance, if they could pin out up top, but the Panthers Owen Richwine kept it close at 215 with Souderton’s Chris Gonce 3-0 to thwart off the potential comeback win.
In perhaps an upset, North Penn defeated a strong #5 Pennsbury team 35-28. North Penn seeded 12th, was that team that was a bracket buster. The Knights who have come on strong as of late will now square up with the #4 Pennridge Rams, whom dismantled an undermanned Council Rock North team 47-18. CRN’s Marco Loss will miss the rest of the season, and we all wish him the best in his next wrestling endeavor at Davidson College. Pennridge recently downed the Knights 37-25 on 1/21/26. I expect a similar result, unless NP can get the coin flip and get the matchups they desire, as Pennridge will move around accordingly to get the team victory.
Number 3 seed Central Bucks East just keeps on trucking. They escaped a close one with Upper Perkiomen 35-30 to advance to the big dance. Upper Perk quietly entered the D1 Duals and made a lot of noise with a potential upset here. But an inadvertent, yet evident slam cost the Indians from stopping the Patriots march into the Elite-8. CBE will battle the Central League’s only representative in these duals, Garnet Valley (#6), as the Jaguars edged Neshaminy (#11) 30-28 in one of the many closely contested duals in round-one.
This much we know, at least two SOL teams will reach the semifinals, as two of the quarter bout matchups feature SOL teams going head-to-head. Number 1 Boyertown looks primed to advance over PAC League foe Owen J Roberts and face Pennridge in the semis, as they continue to dominate dual meets. They eliminated the Bucks from CB West (#16) in round-one action 47-20. The biggest question mark is CB East, who are they, how do they keep winning big duals, and can they keep it going and get by a rugged Jaguar team that nipped Neshaminy 30-28. Thus, there are still a lot of questions, a lot to be answered and a lot of combat to settle all the debates.
Wrestling begins at 8:30am Saturday January 31, 2026, at Upper Dublin with quarterfinal action, and will run straight thru to the finals with semis, wrestle-backs and consolation semifinals on four mats. Faith Christian Academy will take on Bristol in the D1-AA finals.
SOL Conference team wrestling titles are also soon to be decided, and there is still a chance for some movement as Individual League Championship team points count towards the overall criteria to crown a champ. Here’s a look at the current scenarios:
Colonial:
Comes down to CB East versus Pennridge essentially, as they do battle this Wednesday at CBE. Both teams are 3-0 in conference duals. However, North Penn (2-1) will still have a chance if the Rams lose, as they take on CBE 2/4/26. The league tourney could come into play here. Bottom line: too close to call at the moment.
Freedom:
Similar development here with both Cheltenham and Upper Moreland at 3-0. They meet 2/4/26 at UM. You can put Springfield in the mix with a match out there still with UM this week and the league tourney.
Liberty:
Quakertown, as per usual here, is looking for another title. I need to find out the all-time league titles they have captured as I may have to go back to the old Bux-Mont records as well. With wins over both Hatboro-Horsham (2-1) and Plymouth-Whitmarsh (2-1) so far, you can pretty much book it.
Patriot:
No shocker here, CR South (4-0) will cruise to another record setting title here as well with only CR North left on the schedule.
Interesting enough, the team points accrued at the League tourneys could impact a couple of the league’s ultimate champs. This is a rare occurrence, but it has happened before.
2026 DISTRICT ONE TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP PREDICTIONS:

Quarter-Finals:
#1 Boyertown over #8 Owen J Roberts, the Bears just waxed them 53-11.
#4 Pennridge over #12 North Penn in a competitive contest.
#3 Central Bucks East over #6 Garnet Valley, just because.
#2 Council Rock South over #7 Quakertown rather handily.
Semis:
Boyertown over Pennridge in a good one.
CR South over CB East in a reality check.
Finals:
My earlier prediction was Boyertown, but something tells me it’s postseason time, which is Golden Hawk shine time. So…I’m going with the SOL here in a battle royale with CR South coming out on top.
Consolations Finals:
If it all works out well here, I have CB East and Pennridge meeting up for third place honors. But the wrestle-backs in these D1 Duals have been historically intense, suspenseful and flat out grueling. Pennridge has the recent success and experience here, so again I am going flip flop from my original picks and go with the Pennridge Rams placing third.
