On Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, Central Bucks West seniors Janelle Blokker, Anna McGrath, Emery Sterling & Allie Pisch were recognized for committing to compete in collegiate soccer.
Janelle Blokker – University of North Carolina Wilmington (Soccer)
Major: Something in the science field, possibly biology or exercise science
Final list of colleges: UNC Wilmington, Richmond, Kansas State
Reasons for choosing UNC Wilmington: “I chose UNC Wilmington because I really connected with the players and coaches the most. They really made me feel like I belonged, and also, the campus is beautiful.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level?
“I played soccer since I was four, so I kind of knew soccer was my thing. I decided I was going to play college soccer around eighth or ninth grade, once I reached the middle school era because I knew I wasn’t that great in basketball, and that wasn’t going to be a thing for me.”
CB West coach Bree Benedict: “Janelle has meant everything to this program. She’s been a four-year starter, a three-year captain, and the heartbeat of our team. Her leadership, maturity, and competitive edge have shaped our culture. She’s fearless, selfless, and has an incredible ability to rise to big moments. I couldn’t be prouder of her and can’t wait to watch her continue her career at UNC Wilmington — she’s earned every bit of it.”

Anna McGrath – Gettysburg College (Soccer)
Major: Business/Pre-law

Reasons for choosing Gettysburg: “Gettysburg has a really good academic and athletic balance, and it has a very good academic reputation.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “When I was very young, I knew I wanted to play, and I started to develop a love for the competition as I got older and started to play in more competitive leagues.”
CB West coach Bree Benedict: “Anna was one of our most consistent and durable players — a true iron woman for us. She could attack, defend, and handle whatever role we needed with total commitment. Gettysburg is getting a player who will make an immediate impact and a teammate who elevates everyone around her.”

Allie Pisch – Wagner College (Soccer)
Major: Physician’s assistant program

Reasons for choosing Wagner: “I really like the location, and I really like the coaches. Also, they have the major I was lookng for.
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “I started thinking about playing in college when I was really little because my dad, my grandpa and my uncle all played college soccer, so I just wanted to follow in their footsteps.”
CB West coach Bree Benedict: “Allie really came into her own this season. She became a dependable part of our backline and gave us stability when we needed it most. I’m happy to see her continue her playing career at Wagner — it’s a great opportunity for her to keep growing as a player and a person.”

Emery Sterling – New Jersey Institute of Technology (Soccer)
Major: Biomedical Engineering
Final list of colleges: NJIT, St. Joe’s, Lehigh, Bucknell, Colgate
Reasons for choosing NJIT: “Just the high level of athletics and academics, especially for my major. It’s a good engineering school. And the team culture – all the girls were super nice, and Coach Ally (Nick) believed in me, and that was super important.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “I started at a young age knowing that I wanted to play because I was always on a super competitive team. I just always loved it and couldn’t imagine having to stop now.”
CB West coach Bree Benedict: “Emery has been one of the most dangerous scorers we’ve had at West. Even though she wasn’t able to play this year, her impact over the past three seasons speaks for itself. We missed having her on the field this fall, but I’m excited to see her back competing at NJIT — she’s going to thrive there.”
