Insanity.

Benjamin Franklin has been quoted as saying that ‘insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.’

Therefore, the PIAA must be insane.

Or Idiotic, farcical, ridiculous, ludicrous…pick one…or two.

The thought that the public schools with its strict boundary restrictions can compete with the private schools that can literally recruit from anywhere eliminates any notion of fair competition.

Again, it is the PIAA that is the culprit in this crime – not private powerhouses St. Joe’s Prep or La Salle.

The District One and District 11 public schools have been punished the last 5 years (and more) in the 6A PIAA football semifinals & the quarterfinals of the PIAA 6A state playoffs by both the Hawks & the Explorers.

  • In 2025 La Salle overpowered North Penn 49-14 in the semifinals and walloped Easton 49-7 in the quarterfinals.
  • In 2024 St. Joe Prep routed Downingtown West 36-7 and thrashed Parkland 46-7.
  • In 2023 St. Joe Prep destroyed Central Bucks South 49-0 and shellacked Nazareth 59-21.
  • In 2022 St. Joe Prep trounced Garnet Valley 48-7 and routed Parkland 52-21.
  • In 2021 St. Joe Prep blasted Garnet Valley 49-13 and in the lone competitive game SJP defeated Freedom 24-21.

And this list of uncompetitive games – almost all mercy-rule games - doesn’t end in 2021.

But you get the idea.

The fact that public schools that have won district championships in both District One & District 11 must end its successful season with a non-competitive state playoff loss against a private school is a joke.

And it isn’t funny.

And the beat goes on…
