Reasons for choosing Brown: “I selected Brown because of its campus culture and open curriculum which gives the opportunity to explore a variety of academic interests. I also really liked the swim team and the coaches and felt it was a good fit both academically and athletically.”
What was the progression that led you to swimming at the collegiate level? “I grew up playing a variety of sports as a kid - t-ball, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball and swimming. Sports were a good way to keep busy and use up my energy,
but I didn’t have a particularly strong competitive drive. I liked playing and being with my friends. Then something changed in eighth grade. Besides getting a lot taller, I started to really want to win and get better. I started to focus on sports (swimming and volleyball) that played to my strengths.
“Once I started to see results, I became even more motivated to elevate my level of performance, but it wasn’t until the PIAA swim state meet junior year when I had big time drops and placed in the top eight that I became serious about the possibility of swimming in college. I was curious to know if I really pushed myself, what could I accomplish. This is the mindset, along with the realization I’d miss the team environment of sports without competing in college, made me decide to pursue collegiate sports. After that 2025 state meet, I reached out to a few colleges that felt like good academic and athletic matches for me, and Brown reached out to me via the Swimcloud platform. I had conversations with coaches at a few different colleges, visited Brown and Duke and was fortunate to have a decision to make between two great programs.”
