Reasons for selecting Cedar Crest: “I selected Cedar Crest because each time I visited, I felt welcome and comfortable. I appreciate the small size of the school and how it is community knit. I
was able to visit with the team and spend a night at the college, and it was super fun to meet new people and see what an average day would be like for a student-athlete there. I met with multiple nursing professors, students, and even got chances to interact with other potential students and get hand on experience using tools and machines.”
What was the progression that led you to swimming at the collegiate level? “I thought about swimming in college during my junior year when I was beginning the college search process but solidified that idea in my senior year because I was reminded of how much I love being a part of a team and how much I enjoy being in the water.
“I first met the Cedar Crest swim coach during an open house that I attended during my junior year, and I stayed in contact with her, which is how I eventually ended up doing the overnight visit. She watched one of my first meets of the season and continued to contact me throughout the rest of the season to hear about any time improvements.”
Wissahickon coach Laurie Hugg: “Ashley was one of our captains this season. She won the Trojan Spirit Award from her teammates as she is the loudest cheerer at every meet. She is one of our hardest workers and had one of the best attendance records over the past four years. She didn't start swimming until her freshman year and due to her hard work and dedication, she saw great improvement over the years. She's been a true asset to the team.”
