Reasons for choosing Penn State Abington: “It was close to home – I like the distance from my house, so I’m staying home. One of my teammates I used to play with goes there now, and it’s like a family aspect over there.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in basketball at the collegiate level? “At first, I didn’t know if I was going to play a sport in college because I played softball and soccer, but sophomore year, after I was hurt freshman year, I thought I would want to play, but I
didn’t know what sport. Junior year, I was on varsity for basketball, and I liked how competitive it was. I really like basketball, and it’s a longer season than all the other sports. I like how it’s a family, and you get closer to your teammates easier and faster.”
Upper Moreland coach Josh Adelman: “Hailey Kramer was our team Most Valuable Player this past season. She was an extremely hard worker and left everything on the court every game. Her junior year, she became a starter with her all-out hustle and defense. The thing I will always remember about her as a player was she practiced as hard as she played a real game. Some players shy from contact, not Hailey: whether it was a drill, a pickup game, or a league game, she wanted to win. I truly respected her for her effort every day. She grabbed rebounds, dove for loose balls, defended bigger opponents, and never stopped competing. She had to miss time due to injuries this past year, but she didn’t miss a beat when she returned. She improved offensively this year and had a knack of getting the ball to the basket. Hailey got better at finishing her layups and getting to the foul line. I know the trait that Hailey possessed that I hope rubs off on her younger teammates was a desire to not quit on plays, and to be a tireless worker that for two years was very difficult to be taken out of games. Hailey will definitely be missed by both her teammates and coaches.”
