Reasons for choosing Fordham: “I chose Fordham because I loved the location in New York City and the opportunities that come with being in the city. I also felt very welcomed by the team and coaches. Overall, the school atmosphere felt like a good fit for me.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in cheerleading at the collegiate level? “I started thinking about playing a sport in college toward the end of my sophomore year. I
started recording my progress with videos to show my skills and started reaching out to coaches at the beginning of my senior year.”
Quakertown assistant cheerleading coach Payton Moyer: “We’re celebrating an incredible accomplishment as Lily Bures signed to continue her cheerleading journey at the college level. I have had the privilege of watching her grow since she first walked into QCHS as a freshman. From the very beginning, she showed the dedication, determination and a love for cheer. During her senior year, she became one of our amazing captains and a great leader that others looked up to.
“Over the last four years, I have seen Lily develop not only into a talented athlete but into a confident, hardworking and caring young woman. Along the way, she helped lead our team to Nationals all four years and earned an opportunity to compete at states this year. Accomplishments like this reflect her commitment and passion for the sport. By the time she became a senior, she had truly become a leader and someone our younger cheerleaders could admire and learn from.
“We are so proud of everything she has accomplished, and we know this is only the beginning for her. Lily, congratulations on this exciting next chapter, and QCHS cheer will always be cheering for you.”
