Reasons for choosing Messiah: “I loved the kind and supportive atmosphere of the team and university as a whole.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “When I started playing field hockey in middle school, I didn’t take it super seriously and viewed it as a fun time to be with friends. In eighth grade, my coach told me she saw talent and encouraged me to start playing club. By freshman year, I was competing in showcase tournaments and believed in myself and my abilities.
Going into sophomore year, I decided I wanted to play in college and haven’t looked back since.”
Quakertown field hockey coach Peach Draper: “Anna is an athlete that truly embodies the heart and hustle of our field hockey program. From the very first day she stepped on the turf, Anna has been a lead-by-example player whose work ethic and competitive spirit has set the standard for her teammates. Anna was named first team All-Suburban One as a goalie, which is truly impressive because there’s only one, and she was the one in the entire league that was recognized and made Quakertown proud. She also is a standout academic performer, and she made the all-academic team in Pennsylvania, so she is an athlete, and she gets it done in the classroom.
“As a standout goalie and captain, she was the backbone of our defense, often making those impossible saves look easy and providing a sense of confidence for every player in front of her. She will be taking those elite skills to Messiah University. Joining a prestigious field hockey program like the Falcons is a testament to her dedication. I have no doubt she’ll make an immediate impact when she gets there. We are so proud of everything Anna has accomplished, and while we will miss her leadership in the cage, we can’t wait to see her excel in the next chapter.”
