Stephanie Baker – Loyola University Maryland (Cross Country/Track)
Major: Psychology
Reasons for choosing Loyola: “Amazing coaching and the psychology program.”
Coach Don Little: “Stephanie was a soccer player up until junior year. Her junior year she signed up for and was approved to become a dual athlete, which at Pennsbury means you must be a varsity athlete in both
sports. She was able to manage both seasons and earned varsity letters, and she performed equally well in both soccer and cross country.
“Between last year and this year, she decided she was going to commit to cross country, and for her first full season as a cross country runner, she was able to excel beyond all expectations. She was SOL first team. She qualified for states and finished in the top 25 percent at the PIAA 3A State Cross Country championship.
“She’s also a team captain – an excellent leader. I’ve never had a girl that was as friendly and likable and cheerful and had such a positive attitude in the existence of my coaching career. I’ve had girls that were great runners, and I’ve had girls that were great leaders, and I’ve had girls that did a stupendous job at both, but when it comes to across the board, Stephanie really shined. She is an excellent student-athlete, and I wish her the best.”
