On Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, Pennridge senior Elsa Parsons was recognized for committing to compete in field hockey at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Elsa Parsons – Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Field Hockey)
Major: Special Education & Early Childhood Education
Final list of colleges: IUP, West Chester, New Haven, Bloomsburg, East Stroudsburg
Reasons for choosing IUP: “When I stayed there, everything felt right.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level? “I decided the summer going into junior year because I just love the sport.”
Pennridge coach Chris Chookagian: “As a new coach coming in, Elsa was a clear leader on the
team, so she had a strong voice. The girls looked up to her. She led the team in offseason training well before I even was in the picture, which really set them up for success this year coming into the fall. That whole senior class experienced three different coaches in the last four years, and in a conference that’s very tough with the state runner-up, and all the teams made it into the (district) playoffs - for us to be able to make the playoffs for the first time in six years with the team just beaten out the last three – I think the type of player Elsa is it’s hard to teach some of those things about wanting to get better, wanting to play for the team, wanting to win, and I think Elsa along with some of her classmates that are graduating really set the tone for what the next couple of years are going to look like.”
