Reasons for choosing St. John’s: “I chose St. John’s because I felt a personal connection with the coaches, I loved the facilities, and I know they have a good track record of getting guys into professional baseball.”
North Penn coach Kevin Manero: “Brighton Fontaine came to our program as a junior transfer from another school. What stands out to me most about Brighton are two things that I know are going to serve him
extremely well at the next level. One, having a conversation with Brighton is like talking to somebody who’s already played four years of college baseball. His intuitiveness about the game and about his preparation and about what it takes for him to be successful on and off the field is next level. His maturity is incredible when it comes to being a student athlete. I’ve had conversations with Brighton that I’ve never had with high school baseball players before, so I know that from a mental and an intellectual standpoint, he is already at a very high level of Division 1 baseball.
“From a baseball standpoint, Brighton had some struggles on the field as a junior, and I think was playing with a lot of pressure, having previously been committed to Alabama. But when it comes to my favorite kind of ability - which is accountability, Brighton took it upon himself to do a lot of work from a physical standpoint and a mental standpoint, and he came back to us in the spring of ’25 as a much different pitcher. And even his bullpens in the winter and the fall were so much better. His numbers were astronomically better for us this year as one of our starters. And his performance on the field to me indicates that he will know what it takes to continue to better himself and compete in what is going to be an even more highly competitive environment in college. He’s got the physical abilities, he’s got the intellectual abilities, and he knows what it takes to prepare professionally. So, I think all of those things are going to serve him very well.”
