On Monday, May 18, Central Bucks South seniors Jake Wiener, Jacquelyn Waddell, Daphne Rauchut, Kyra Schollin & Sebastian Marquez-Ferber were recognized for committing to compete in track and field at the collegiate level.

“Sebastian, Kyra, Daphne, Jackie and Jake are all going to be missed by the team,” CB South coach Jason Gable said. “All are tremendous athletes in their own right, and all are great models of what it means for hard work and dedication throughout all the seasons. They’re a great example of what it means to be a CB South athlete and will be remembered moving forward. All will be sorely missed.”
Sebastain Marquez-Ferber – University of Rhode Island (Track & Field)
Major: Animal Science & Veterinary Science
Final list of colleges: URI, UMBC, United States Naval Academy
Reasons for choosing URI: “I really liked their track team – that was a big part. I would have gone to Navy, but Navy didn’t have a veterinary program, and I knew I wanted to be a vet.”
What was the progression that led you to competing track & field at the collegiate level? “Ever since I was eight years old, I knew I wanted to do it. I stayed dedicated and worked
really hard. I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I got to meet a lot of cool people that helped me along the way.”
Central Bucks South coach Jason Gable: “Sebastian is going to be attending the University of Rhode Island for track. He ran a 1:52 in the 800 for a PR this year, and he was a three-time district qualifier in the 400, the 800 and the mile. In 1-on-1 discussions, he always showed the respect and attentiveness to the coaching, bringing his thoughts and experiences to the table to understand the how and why of the training. No matter what successes he achieved over the years, he always showed a willingness to learn and grow throughout the season.
“Sebastian demonstrated the capacity for a strong work ethic and continues to develop greater consistency in daily training. He brought enthusiasm and a competitive mindset to races, always wanting to set himself up to perform at his best. He had and continues to have a genuine passion for the sport of cross country and track and field, which is displayed for others to see and follow, always knowing that every time he checked off one goal - he immediately set another goal to fight for.”

Daphne Rauchut – Gwynedd Mercy University (Track & Field)
Major: Education Studies
Final list of colleges: Gwynedd Mercy, Immaculata, DeSales
Reasons for choosing Gwynedd Mercy: “Finances and it was more local, and that
was the first college where I said – ‘I want to go to this school.’”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track and field at the collegiate level? “I debated whether I wanted to because I’ve done it for so long. Sometimes it gets tiring, but I decided to keep going with it.”
Central Bucks South coach Jason Gable: “Daphne Rauchet was a sprinter all four years for CB South, and she’s going to compete at Gwynedd Mercy University. She had a strong career, working back from adversity with an injury in her junior year and came back to set personal bests as a senior. She’s a great role model and team mom to the underclassmen. She’s a leader by example and was able to fill in on relays. Her primary events were the 100 and 200. She’s an all-around great kid, and she will have a promising career at the next level.

Kyra Schollin – Salve Regina University (Track & Field)
Major: Biology
Final list of colleges: Salve Regina, Quinnipiac, Rhode Island, Monmouth
Reasons for choosing Salve Regina: “The location and the welcoming community. I stepped
on the campus, and I could see myself living there. It’s so pretty, and everyone that I met who’s going there is so nice. I can’t wait to go.”
What was the progression that led you to competing track and field at the collegiate level? “I ran track my whole life. I’ve done CYO and cross country since I was younger. I ran in middle school and high school. I focused on the hurdles after sophomore year, and I realized I did not want to stop hurdling. You can go out on a run, but you can’t go out and hurdle, so I was like, ‘I don’t want to be done with this,’ so I tried focusing on where my times would take me and where I could go that wasn’t very demanding but I could still do it.”
Central Bucks South coach Jason Gable: “Kyra was a hurdler and sprinter all four years – high hurdles, indoor hurdles, 300 hurdles. She was a terrific team captain all four years and a leader on the team. She modeled an example of what it means to be a great teammate and was well-respected by her coaches. She’s going to compete at Salve Regina University with high hopes to continue to PR. She ended the season on a PR. She’s an all-around great athlete.”

professor-to-student ratio. I just liked the track team and the vibe of the school.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track and field at the collegiate level? “I did gymnastics since I was three years old, and I decided to quit in eighth grade. I started track in ninth grade. I was always a competitive person and wanted to do college track.”
Central Bucks South coach Jason Gable: “Jackie Waddell is going to Bucknell University. She’s been the top pole vaulter for CB South over the past four years. She was a district qualifier for two out of the four years. She was an indoor champs qualifier three out of the four years and set personal marks of 12-6. She’s a great jumper who battled through adversity with some injuries along the way but still was able to jump and compete strong throughout our whole season. She filled in on the 4x100 relay and ended up becoming a great sprinter and long jumper for us. She has great promise competing in pole vault in college.”

I felt like I always wanted to go there. The assistant coach was very nice through the whole process - we’ve been talking for a few months, and I just loved the place.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track and field at the collegiate level? “I’ve always played basketball my whole life. I started track this year. My parents always wanted me to do track for a while. My dad works at Bristol Myers Squibb, and they do cancer runs, and I’ve won twice and got medals in both. College was always the goal, and I achieved it.
Central Bucks South coach Jason Gable: “This was his first year on the track team as a senior, and he found a great love for the sport and decided midway through the spring season that he wanted to continue in college. Arcadia is a great fit for how he is as an athlete and how he is as a person with his academics. He’s a hard worker, quick learner and gave our team great productivity,
