On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, Central Bucks East senior Gavin Bloch was recognized for committing to continue his baseball career at King’s College.

Reasons for choosing King’s: “I was also considering Caldwell for baseball. King’s is local – it’s only two hours away. (A) small school is perfect for me, and they wanted me for baseball.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in baseball at the collegiate level? “I’ve played baseball since I was about five, and it’s always been my favorite sport. I just love it,
and I always wanted to play baseball in college and just get an opportunity to continue playing baseball.”
Central Bucks East coach Kyle Dennis: “One of the hardest things in baseball is to be ready for a role that does not always get the headlines. Last year, Gavin Bloch was asked to be a short reliever and setup man out of the bullpen. That role takes toughness. It takes trust. It takes the ability to come into a game in high leverage situations. His job was simple but not easy – get the ball to the next guy with the team still in a position to win the game.
“There is a long history in baseball of pitchers making a huge impact in that role. Before Mariano Rivera became the greatest closer of all time, he was a setup for Yankees closer John Wetteland. Andrew Miller became one of the most valuable postseason pitchers in baseball because he could come in whenever the game needed him most. Those guys remind us that value is not always measured by wins, saves or headlines. Sometimes value is measured by trust.
“And that is what Gavin Bloch earned. He had earned the trust of his coaches and teammates to be effective in tight situations.
“His senior year did not go the way he wanted because of injury, but that does not erase what he showed as a junior. His junior year showed his skill and his competitiveness and the pitcher he can be when given the ball in an important spot.
“We are proud of Gavin. We are proud of the work he put in, the way he handled adversity, and the opportunity he has earned at King’s College. We know he will bring the same toughness, reliability and team-first attitude with him at the next level. Congratulations, Gavin. Get healthy and we all look forward to following your career at King’s College.”
