SOL Patriot Division
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 4, NESHAMINY 0
In a showdown of the top two teams in the division, it was Rock North’s Mia Kiskurno tossing a gem. She scattered four hits in the complete game shutout while striking out three and walking one.
“Mia Kiskurno was outstanding in the circle,” Rock North coach John Engelhardt said. “She had command of all her pitches and kept a strong lineup off balance all game. It was our first error-free game of the season, and it couldn’t have come at a better time against a top opponent.”
Alison Bodick’s RBI single in the first spotted the Indians an early lead. That 1-0 lead stood until the sixth when Maddie Reinhardt delivered an RBI double to up the Indians’ advantage to 2-0.
In the top of the seventh, the Indians added a pair when Mia Kiskurno, who walked, scored on a wild pitch, and Liv Schlindwein, who singled, scored on a single by Zoe Hornstein for the 4-0 final.
“Overall, this was a complete team win and a big step forward for us as we continue through the season,” Engelhardt said. “I haven’t seen that dominant of a pitching performance at Neshaminy since 2018 when my pitcher and current assistant coach Lauren Begg pitched a complete game three-hitter in the district quarterfinals to send us to the state playoffs.”

--The game: “I couldn’t be more proud of how our girls showed up in all three phases of the game. From the first pitch, the energy was there, our defense was locked in, and we were disciplined and aggressive at the plate.
“Offensively, we did a great job of consistently putting pressure on their defense. Even when we weren’t stringing hits together, we were competing every at-bat and forcing plays to be made.”
--Props: “I also want to give credit to Neshaminy’s Avery McCafferty and her twin sister Riley McCafferty. Both made outstanding defensive plays that kept them in the game. And it’s really special to see three sisters contributing on the same varsity team—that’s something you don’t come across often. A lot of respect for the McCafferty girls and the program they’re part of.”

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 10, HARRY S TRUMAN 3
The Golden Hawks trailed 3-2 early but responded with eight unanswered runs, bouncing back for the win after a tough 2-1 loss to Neshaminy in their last outing.
Jenna Pensapane’s three-hit effort led a nine-hit attack for the Hawks.
“Today’s matchup against Truman was an important bounce-back performance for our group and a strong step toward getting back into the win column,” Rock South coach Scott Molle said. “We came into the game focused and determined after a tough loss to Neshaminy, where we played well enough to win but ultimately fell short, giving up an unearned run late.
“The team understands that we let that opportunity slip away, but more importantly, they responded the right way—with confidence, energy, and a commitment to finishing the job. That mindset showed throughout today’s game as we played a more complete and disciplined brand of softball.”
Natalie Neubauer notched the complete game win, allowing seven hits and three runs (only one earned). Ashlyn Curtier and Avery Ochs both had a pair of hits.
For the Tigers, Skyler Mahler and Emma Keeley each had two hits.

Key inning: Bottom of fourth – Trailing 3-2, the Golden Hawks erupted for four runs to go on top 6-3. Victoria Herzog and Mia Musto drew back-to-back walks to open the inning. Herzog was thrown out at third on Molly Gabriele’s fielder’s choice.
Jenna Pesapane’s RBI single knotted the score, and Ashlyn Curtier followed with a double to left that plated a pair. Curtier scored on an error, and the Hawks led 6-3.

--Props: “Jenna Pesapane was the standout at the plate with an exceptional all-around performance. Our sophomore third baseman and one of our team captains set the tone offensively, going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two singles, a double, and adding a hit-by-pitch. She drove in two runs and crossed the plate twice herself, consistently putting pressure on the defense. Jenna had been working through a few tough games offensively, but her response speaks volumes about her character and work ethic. She has put in extra time to make adjustments, and it showed today in both her approach and confidence at the plate. When Jenna is locked in, she has the ability to be a true catalyst for our offense, and her success elevates an already potent lineup. The coaching staff is extremely proud of her perseverance, and we’re excited to see her continue building on this performance.
“Freshman Ashlyn Curtier also delivered another strong outing, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Ashlyn has been a consistent contributor for us all season, and her ability to come through in key situations continues to stand out. For a freshman to produce at this level speaks to both her talent and her composure, and it’s clear she has a very bright future ahead of her in our program.
“Avery Ochs continued her impressive freshman campaign as well, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI. Avery has established herself as a reliable and disciplined hitter who consistently makes solid contact and puts the ball in play with authority. Her approach at the plate and overall consistency have been a major asset to our offense, and she continues to grow with each game.
“In the circle, sophomore Natalie Neubauer once again gave us a steady and composed performance. Natalie allowed just one earned run while scattering seven hits, doing an excellent job of managing the game and keeping hitters off balance. Her presence in the circle has been invaluable—she competes with confidence, maintains her composure in all situations, and trusts her defense. What stands out most is her calm demeanor; she doesn’t get rattled, and she consistently gives us a chance to win every time she takes the ball.”

NORTH PENN 13, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3 (5 innings)
The Knights found themselves in a rare position, trailing the visiting Titans 3-0 after just one inning. They responded as might be expected from the district’s top-seeded team, taking a 4-2 lead in the third and never looking back.
If they needed insurance, they got it with a six-run fourth to go on top 11-3, and the game came to an early halt in the fifth when Alana Battavio and Felicia Connolly hit back-to-back RBI doubles with Connolly’s bringing in the 13th run.
For Connolly, it was her third hit of a productive afternoon at the plate.
“Felicia came out and hit the ball. She was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs,” North Penn coach Rick Torresani said. “We need her to hit, so I was glad to see that, but the whole lineup (contributed).”
Connolly also earned the win in the circle, allowing just three hits and three runs (one earned) while striking out eight and walking none.
In addition to Connolly, Gabriella Brigidi and Gabby Battavio also got three hits each.
For the Titans, Erin Ruddell and Cam Lee (RBI) opened the game with back-to-back doubles that were part of a three-run first. They managed just one hit the rest of the way.

Key inning: Bottom of third – Trailing 3-0, the Knights put five runs on the board on their way to the mercy rule win. Gianna Howard, Cailin Halfpenny and Gabriella Brigidi hit consecutive singles to open the inning. Tallie Smink lofted a sac fly to left field that plated Halfpenny, and Gabby and Alana Battavio hit back-to-back RBI singles to knot the score 3-3. With two outs, Alana Drummond doubled home a pair of runs to put the Knights on top 5-3.
North Penn coach Rick Torresani:
--The game: “We got behind early in the first inning. They had two doubles (to score first) and then they got two unearned runs to follow that. We had a couple girls on base in the bottom of the first and couldn’t get the hit, but they came back after that and just hit the ball, and it was everybody hitting. In fact, the South coach said, ‘Your kids one through nine can hit.’
“I told them after the game, ‘You gave me a heart attack, but after the second inning, I thought – Wow, it’s been a while since a team I had just shrugged it off and said, ‘Okay, we’re fine’ and came out and hit the ball.’
“It shows what this team can do, especially when they get timely hits because we have been leaving a lot of girls on base. I was extremely happy with the way they came back and fought back.”

SOUDERTON 16, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 (3 innings)
Madi Mott did not allow a hit in the abbreviated mercy rule win, fanning five in her three-inning stint and leading the Indians to their eighth win in a row.
Souderton plated five runs in the bottom of the first, taking away any suspense there may have been. They once again were swinging hot bats, scoring double-digit runs for the seventh time in as many games.
Kathryn Jones and Ava Detwiler led the Indians’ 15-hit attack with three hits each. Between them, the duo had five of the Indians’ seven extra base hits – Jones had three with two doubles and a triple, and Detwiler had a pair of doubles.

Kathryn Jones lined an RBI double to center, and Ava Detwiler followed with a single that saw Jones score on a West miscue, and Kendal Nelson hit an RBI single that plated Detwiler, putting the Indians on top 5-0.

--Mott delivers: “Our pitching has been the storyline of this season. Tonight, it was Madi Mott's turn on the mound, and she was sharp. Madi had everything working and did a nice job of changing speeds and hitting spots. We try to make sure we go over the game plan before every game, so she is always prepared. Madi is a very confident pitcher, but what I really appreciate about her is that she loves being out there, and it's just a game to her. She doesn't make too much of any situation. She just wants to be on the mound and enjoy the moment.”
--Props “Kathryn Jones is hitting the ball as well as anyone in the league right now. She has eight hits in our last three games, and her average is well over .550. She put in a lot of work in the off-season to get stronger and has made some good adjustments at the plate during the year to make herself a better hitter.”

The Colonials celebrated the team’s seniors with a win over the neighboring Trojans.
Anna Powel led the Colonials’ 12-hit attack with a four-hit effort that included a pair of doubles.
The Colonials, who led 2-1 after four innings, put an exclamation point on the win with a four-run fifth inning.
Ava McEvoy did not allow a run in four innings in relief to earn the win in the circle.

--Props: “The offensive attack was led by senior Anna Powel (4-4 w 2 doubles and 2 RBIs) and senior Emily Dobrowolski’s two hits and two runs scored. Senior Ava McEvoy also got the win in the circle, coming in relief to throw four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out five. Junior Maddie Swift also hit a mammoth pinch hit home run as part of her two-hit night.”

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 3, UPPER MORELAND 0
Dagny Mobley did it all.
In a battle between the top two teams in the SOL Freedom, the New Hope-Solebury junior tossed a four-hit shutout in the complete game win. She did not walk a batter and fanned eight in a brilliant outing. At the plate, Mobley – who bats out of the cleanup spot – was a perfect 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Her RBI single in the first turned out to be the game-winner, but for good measure, Mobley also led off the fourth inning with a solo home run to center field to give the Lions a 2-0 lead.
“What I love for Dagny – everybody likes to talk about certain people in the area, and Dagny has just continued to work hard and harder,” New Hope-Solebury coach Chris Marchok said. “And today was, thus far, the culmination of a wonderful two-and-a-half years for her because she did it on the mound, she did it at the plate, and by the way, she also fielded her position. There was at least one bunt that was dropped two feet from the baseline, and Dagny makes it over, picks it up and throws the kid out at first base, so it was literally an incredibly complete game from her and one that she has worked so hard for.”
The Lions added an insurance run in the fifth when Morgan Foster, who hit a two-out double, scored on a single by Rachel Sim.
Mobley and Mabel Klossner – both Division 1 commits – have given the Lions an elite one-two punch in the circle, combining for 100 strikeouts and only 13 walks so far this season.
On Thursday, the day belonged to Mobley, who is committed to Fairfield University, but Klossner, who has committed to Cornell, will have her days as well.
“They love each other, they support each other,” Marchok said. “They’re incredible teammates to each other and incredible teammates to everyone else.”
With the win, the Lions share the top spot in the division standings with Upper Moreland. The Golden Bears won the initial meeting between the two schools on March 31, 10-4.

--The game: “I’ve been coaching for 13 years, and I’d be hard pressed to find another one that was anywhere near as well played by both teams, as clean and crisp and exciting. Upper Moreland was on, we were on. We have dedicated ourselves as a program these last two to three weeks – we’ve dedicated ourselves to stepping up our defense because what we saw was we were losing games because of unearned runs. The kids have worked incredibly hard on their defense, and that paid off.
“Today there were plays being made just consistently that you would expect in a good travel softball game, and our kids were making them. The Upper Moreland kids were making them too. The last couple of times we’ve played Upper Moreland – they made the defensive plays, and we’ve been challenged a bit. Today we made the plays, so when you look at the first inning – Mabel (was on second) with two outs, and Dagny (Mobley) follows with an RBI single. Then the next time up – Dagny leads off that fourth inning with a solo home run.
“And Dagny – you don’t know what the game situation is by looking at her. She could have given up a home run or she could have struck out the number four hitter with the bases loaded, and you look at her face – it’s the same face. So she’s running around third base after the home run, and it’s like, ‘Okay, I’ve got out of this jam.’ That’s what she looked like. Both she and Mabel (Klossner) bring that level of calmness.”

The Spartans took a 5-1 lead into the fifth inning when they exploded for five runs on their way to the division win.
Bea Lyons had three hits to lead the Spartans’ offense. Molly McGuickin and Ani Axelrod each had a pair of hits.
Reese Kaub earned the win, striking out eight and allowing just two hits and two earned runs in 5.2 innings. Julia Mathews closed out the game and did not allow a run in 1.1 innings.

The Panthers wasted little time before seizing control of Thursday’s division contest. It was the second meeting between the two teams in a week. Tennent won the first one 20-3, and this one was every bit as
lopsided.
Tennent led 14-0 after three innings, and the Panthers brought an end to the game in the fourth when Gabriella Petro roped a two-run double to left field.
