Felicia Connolly was perfect.
Literally.
The Villanova-bound senior retired all 21 batters she faced, fanning 15 of them. She needed just 78 pitches in the seven-inning masterpiece – 59 were strikes.
“She’s been on, and she’s had two no-hitters and now the perfect game,” North Penn coach Rick Torrresani said of his ace. “She pitched really well against Methacton the other day (in a 9-0 win), and today she came in - when everything’s working, she’s one of the best pitchers I’ve ever had.
“She’s a strong kid and can throw hard, and when she’s spinning the ball really well, she’s tough to hit.”
That was certainly the case in Thursday’s win. Just two balls left the infield – both were hit to center fielder Cailin Halfpenny.
“She bore down,” Torresani said. “She has matured so much in the last year. She’s a big-time pitcher. Villanova is very lucky to get her.”
The Knights scored the only run Connolly would need in the bottom of the first and added a run in the bottom of the third when Gabby Battavio – who drove in both runs - hit a two-out RBI single.
Quakertown’s Kaylee Carr allowed just five hits and two runs in a strong outing of her own.

--Credit to Panthers: “Quakertown played really well. Their center fielder (Cadence Jozefowski) made some outstanding catches – they were big-time highlight catches. They’re a young team that’s playing good softball, and it’s keeping them in games. Their coach said that some games don’t go as well as they might like, but it’s a young squad, and that can happen.”

In a contest that showcased the pitchers from the respective squads, it was the Golden Hawks putting three runs on the board in the top of the fourth and then holding off the Golden Bears the rest of the way.
Neshaminy’s Natalie Neubauer earned the complete game win, allowing six hits and two runs in a winning effort.
Delaney Stout turned in a gem of her own for the Golden Bears, allowing five hits and three earned runs. She also drove in both of her team’s runs in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out, two-run single.

Freshman Ashlyn Curtier led off the inning with a line single to left, advanced to second on an error and scored when Paige Brady lined a double to left field. Avery Ochs singled to center, and Brady scored on the throw. Sophia Salamon followed with a single, and Mickey DeYoung’s groundout plated Ochs with the third run that stood as the game-winner.

--Neubauer delivers: “In the circle, Natalie Neubauer once again delivered a strong and composed performance. She limited a capable Upper Moreland lineup to just two runs on six hits while consistently keeping hitters off balance. Natalie demonstrated excellent command and poise throughout the game, working efficiently and trusting her defense behind her.”
Props: “Offensively, we had several key contributions throughout the lineup. Freshman Ashlyn Curtier continued to make an impact, collecting two hits and scoring a run. Paige Brady stayed hot at the plate, ripping an RBI double—her ninth of the season—and continuing to be a consistent extra-base threat for us.
“Freshman Avery Ochs also put together another quality performance, driving in a run with a hard-hit single and consistently putting together strong at-bats. Avery’s awareness and instincts on the bases proved to be pivotal, as she scored the game-winning run on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Mickey DeYoung. Her ability to read the play and execute a well-timed slide at home ultimately made the difference in securing the victory.
“Defensively, the team showed a complete turnaround from earlier in the week. We played clean, fundamentally sound softball, which is the standard we hold ourselves to every time we take the field. It was encouraging to see the group respond and return to the level of defensive play we expect and know we are capable of.”
Up next: Council Rock South will host Neshaminy Tuesday.
“Looking ahead, we have a challenging slate of three games next week,” Molle said. “Our schedule continues to test us against strong competition, which will provide valuable opportunities for growth as we move deeper into the season.”

Avery Oliveti turned in a strong outing in the circle, scattering five hits in the complete game shutout.
The Owls put a pair of runs on the board in the top of the fourth. Veronica Parchucki and Abbie Krevolin led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Both runners advanced on Sydney Daut’s sacrifice bunt. Dana Oliverio’s sac fly plated the game’s first run, and Aubrey Merz’s single drove in the second.
Gina Oliverio and Aubrey Merz both had a pair of hits, and Reece Colgan hit a solo home run in the fifth.

The Lady Rams pounded out 11 hits – six for extra bases. Three players hit home runs – Taylor Toutkoushian hit a two-run blast in the first inning, Lilly Davies hit a solo shot in the second, and Brooke Souder smashed a solo home run in the sixth. Jadyn Gulbinski hit a triple and scored in the fifth.
The win was the third in four games for Pennridge after dropping its first eight games of the season.
Madison Heinrich excelled in the circle and at the plate, notching the win with six strong innings. She also had a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Brooke Souder threw a scoreless seventh had a pair hits.
Zoe Kelly had a pair of hits to lead the Ghosts.

We are taking the pressure off our pitching by playing clean defense, and that goes a long way. I said at the beginning of the season we are the team to watch and we are turning the corner.”

NESHAMINY 9, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 4
April is Sexual Abuse Awareness month, and New Hope-Solebury has taken the opportunity to promote awareness at their home games.
“We are so grateful to New Hope-Solebury for allowing us to be a part of their charity game to raise awareness for victims of sexual violence and abuse,” Neshaminy coach Sarah Martoccio said. “It is so important for everyone, especially young girls, to know about all of the resources that are available to victims and survivors. It is so much more than a game, and it is humbling to be a part of something so much bigger.”
The Redskins once again showcased their offensive firepower, collecting 13 hits while notching their 11th win of the season. Keira Secoda led the charge with three hits.
The host Lions led 3-2 after two innings, thanks to a solo home run by Mabel Klossner in the first and a two-run homer by Morgan Foster in the second.
Neshaminy responded with a five-run third to take a lead it would not lose.
Molly Ambrosius allowed just four hits and one run in five innings in relief of starter Addie Pennisi, who notched the win.

Zahmira Coppola-Miller drew a walk, and Ashley Entenman and Keira Secoda both singled to load the bases. With two outs, Ellie Miller lined a single to center that emptied the bases with the third run scoring on an error.

The Patriots opened up a 7-0 lead after two innings and never looked back on their way to the Senior Night win in Thursday’s SOL crossover game.
Sydney Hahn had herself a day at the plate, collecting three hits – including a pair of home runs. The freshman slugger’s two-run homer highlighted a three-run second, and she also hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth.
Carly Franklin also had three hits.
For the Trojans, Juliet O’Farrell led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 effort at the plate.
In a strong outing in the circle, Sarah Zmuda notched the complete game win, fanning nine and walking only one.

“The offense was led by Sydney Hahn who had two home runs and three hits. Also with three hits was Carly Franklin while Hailey Helmstetter, Elena Bhatt and Grace Michvech had two hits apiece.
“It was a wonderful game for our three seniors who celebrated senior night tonight along with Ava Frederick from Wissahickon. Our seniors were Grace Michvech, Olivia Owtscharuk and Elena Bhatt."

In a back and forth battle that saw the two teams combine for 31 hits (five home runs) and 24 runs, it was the Colonials scoring four runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a lead they would not lose.
Zoey Robinson’s four-hit effort – which included a double – led PW. Gia Bono (two doubles) and Maddie Swift both had three hits. Joslyn Perez roped a three-run blast in the top of the seventh, Layla LaNoce added a solo homer in the sixth, and Lori Flannery hit a two-run homer in the fourth.
For the Bucks, Hailey Worthington’s three-hit game included a two-run home run in the first inning, a double, three RBIs and a run scored. Makala Burkholder hit a two-run home run in the third.
Six pitchers saw action – three for each team – in a contest that belonged to the respective offenses.

“In an emotionally draining game, the girls did a great job staying focused on the task at hand today. We scored a couple in the top of the first, then gave up five in the bottom of the first. Instead of giving in, the team battled back little by little, scoring runs in every inning from the third through the seventh. We’ve had problems this year both settling when we’re ahead and tensing up when we’re behind, but today the girls were focused and kept battling all the way to the very end.
“We’ve also been harping to the girls to just focus on hitting the ball hard and good things will happen. And that certainly happened today, to the tune of 18 hits”

“Joslyn had an amazing seventh inning to close out the game. First, she hit a three-run homer in the top of the seventh, and then with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, after they hit a two-run double to pull within two runs, Joslyn made an awesome pump fake throw to draw the runner off second and tagged her out to end the game. Such a heads up play in the middle of a tense situation.”
Central Bucks West Mike Daher:
"I felt like we held the lead for a good part of the game, but we just could not keep Plymouth Whitemarsh from scoring runs against us. They collected 18 hits and scored 13 runs against our 13 hits and 11 runs. They hit the ball very well today. They are a very good team with some strong hitters, and they got good pitching and played solid defense as well. But I was proud of our girls as they kept battling back throughout the entire game.
"PW is a very good team offensively that puts pressure on you throughout the entire game. You have to get good pitching, play solid defense and score runs to beat them. We were not able to accomplish all three of those goals and therefore fell a little short today. It doesn't get any easier for us as next week we have to take on North Penn on Tuesday."
--Props: “Hailey Worthington had a tremendous game at the plate, getting three hits on the day including a home run – the first of her career - and a double. She also had three RBIs for us. Marley Swain had another productive day at the plate, collecting two hits and scoring three runs. Hailey Sigler also had two hits, including a double and a single. And our freshman shortstop, Makala Burkholder, had the first home run of her career. She also added a single to go along with her home run. Our leadoff hitter, Jill Boyle, also added a double and two RBIs.”

The Spartans hung tough for five innings and trailed just 1-0 heading into the sixth when the Indians erupted for eight runs and then added six more in the seventh.
Lucy Mills notched the complete game win, allowing just two hits and one run (unearned) while walking none and striking out seven.
Also for the Indians, Emily Dziekan had two hits a team-high three RBIs while Zoe Hornstein, Chelsea Seiler, Maddie Reinhardt, Alison Bodick and Katie Wilkoski contributed two RBIs each.

The Titans scored early and often, opening up a 6-0 lead after two innings and then ensuring an early end to the game with a six-run fourth.
Maddie Motley’s three-hit, three-RBI game led the Titans’ 14-hit attack. Keira Im also had three hits with her two-run triple highlighting a fourth inning that also included a two-run home run by Hannah McClintock.
Erin Ruddell and Cam Lee both contributed two hits, and two RBIs.
Alexis Griffin, who earned the win with four shutout innings, combined with Brooke Taylor on the four-hit shutout in the abbreviated contest. They did not walk a batter and combined for six strikeouts.

“We came together and had a different, relaxed vibe today. A lot of my players are so hard on themselves and needed to be reminded to have fun. Offense has been our focus recently, and today everyone contributed. Pitching has been so reliable and a compliment to how well they balance each other out. Alexis (Griffin) is focused every pitch and is strong and reliable. Brooke (Taylor) is gaining so much confidence with every batter increasing her effectiveness. Great team win today.”

The Tigers took care of business in a hurry, exploding for seven runs in the top of the first and eight more in the second.
Taylor Carney paced the Tigers’ 13-hit attack with a perfect 3-for-3 that included a two-run triple in the second inning. Marley Montgomery drove in three runs with one swing of the bat, hitting a three-run bomb in the first.
Emma Keeley earned the win with three shutout innings, allowing just one hit. She also drove in a pair of runs.

The Indians celebrated a special night with a mercy rule non-league win over the visiting Vikings.
“It was truly an honor to play in our first Support Our Troops game tonight, honoring the men and women who serve our country,” Souderton coach Tyler Bui said. “We have the privilege of playing a simple game such as this because of the men and women who sacrifice for our freedom. It was wonderful to have them with us tonight for the game.”
There were stars galore in this one.
In the circle, Katie Straub and Madi Mott combined on a two-hitter, allowing just one earned run while striking out five and walking one.
At the plate, the Indians pounded out 13 hits in just five innings, led by the three-hit, three-RBI effort of Emma Messmer, who had one of two Souderton home runs – a two-run shot in the fifth inning. Emma Lewis had a team-high four RBIs, which included a two-run home run in the third inning.

Key inning: Bottom of third – With the Indians holding a 2-1 lead, Kiera Fadden led off the inning with a single, and one out later, she scored when Emma Lewis smashed a home run to right field. Kathryn Jones followed with a single and stole second, and with two outs, Emma Messmer lined a single to right, plating a run that put the Indians on top 5-1 on their way to the big win.

--The game: “I was extremely proud of our all-around effort tonight. Katie Straub gave us another strong performance on the mound, and Madi Mott was able to close it out. We got solid hitting up and down our order. I was pleased to see everyone in our lineup hit the ball hard tonight.”
--Messmer on fire: “Emma Messmer has been on fire for us in the past several weeks. She is another player that we have moved in our lineup several times, and she never complains. She just wants to hit! What I really appreciate about Emma is that she is extremely coachable. She trusts our coaching staff and will make adjustments to make herself a better player. When you watch her in practice, the ball jumps off her bat. She can hit the ball as hard as anyone on our team, and I am so happy to see her hard work translate into the games.”
