Zoe Kelly had a big day at the plate, and Danica Santiago earned the complete game win in the circle in Friday’s battle of the neighboring rivals.
Kelly’s three-hit day led the Ghosts and included a double and home run with three RBIs and three runs.
Santiago allowed five hits and one run in seven strong innings, fanning five and walking none.

Key inning: Top of first – Mia Lucke led off the top of the first by ripping a triple to left field and scored when Zoe Kelly followed with a double to left. A walk to Grace Meehan was followed by a two-run single by Sophia Dever, and the Ghosts had a 3-0 lead before the Lady Panthers came to bat on their way to the non-league win.

The Falcons put four runs on the board in the top of the first inning, added four more in the third and then brought an early end to the game with a nine-run fourth inning.
Syd Kandravi had another big day at the plate, contributing four hits – which included a pair of doubles – and three RBIs. Bella Morales and Jenna Thompson both added three hits. Morales had one double while Thompson had two. Jaylynn Rodweller had the most productive afternoon, finishing a triple shy of the cycle with a single, double and home run. She led the Falcons with five RBIs and three runs scored.
Freshman Paige Fidishun allowed just two hits in three innings, striking out seven. She also helped her own cause with a pair of doubles. Cali Cegielski threw a scoreless fourth to close out the mercy rule win.

The Fords brought a 6-1 record into Friday’s non-league game at North Penn. They became just another victim for a Knights’ squad that won its 10th game of the season without a loss.
North Penn managed just four hits but benefitted from seven walks and two Fords’ miscues.
Felicia Connolly turned in another stellar outing, allowing just three hits and one run (unearned) while striking out nine and walking one.

Key inning: Bottom of second: Alana Drummond and Cailin Halfpenny drew back-to-back walks to lead off the inning, and both advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Gianna Howard. With two outs, Alana Battavio was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and a walk to Gabby Battavio forced home the Knights’ first run. Tallie Smink delivered the game’s biggest hit with a two-run single that put the Knights on top 3-0.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 7, HOPEWELL VALLEY 0
Freshman Brielle Jenner had herself a debut to remember, tossing a complete game four-hit shutout in Friday’s non-league game. The rookie faced an opponent from across the Delaware River, Hopewell Valley Central High School from Pennington, New Jersey at the West home field.
“She did not disappoint the home CB West softball fans attending the game,” West coach Mike Daher said.
Jenner threw seven shutout innings for her first career win. She helped herself out at the plate with a bunt single to load the bases in the sixth inning when the Bucks scored five runs to put the game out of reach. A grand slam home run by Sam Hooven highlighted the five-run outburst.
Hooven continued her impressive offensive tear with a 4-for-4 effort that included two doubles, a home run and five RBIs.

Key inning: Bottom of first – Jill Boyle led off the inning with a double to center and stole third, but she was still there with two outs when Sam Hooven delivered an RBI double. Makala Burkholder followed with an RBI single, and the Bucks had a lead they would not lose.

Central Bucks West coach Mike Daher:
“I feel like we really started playing better during our last two games. We had some tough losses to start the season, but after getting two well pitched back-to-back games with both Kendall Kornuszko and Brielle Jenner going the distance, I feel like we are now on track to begin playing some really solid softball. This was a good week for us and rally something to build on moving forward.”
--Impressive debut: Making her first start, Jenner was able to pitch out of a first inning jam after giving up a one-out walk to Jasmine Johann and a two-out single to cleanup hitter Elizabeth Zelin. She was able to close out the first inning with a two-out pop up to shortstop Makala Burkholder.
For the rest of the game, Jenner allowed only one more Bulldogs’ runner to reach scoring position, and that was in the top of the fourth inning. She finished the day allowing a total of four hits and only two walks. She struck out eight batters on the day, including the last three she faced in the top of the seventh inning. She was extremely efficient on the day throwing 125 pitches and 80 of those were for strikes.
--Hooven on a tear: The big hitter on the day was again sophomore catcher and third baseman Sam Hooven. On the day, Hooven had four plate appearances. She doubled in a run in the first inning, doubled again in the third inning, singled and stole a base in the fifth inning and finished the day in grand style by hitting a two out bases loaded grand slam to put the Bucks up by that final score of 7-0. On the day, Hooven collected four hits, three extra base hits, two doubles, a grand slam, nine total bases and five RBIs. On the season, Hooven has collected fourteen hits and is carrying a .609 batting average and a 1.435 slugging percentage. She has also hit four home runs to date, to go along with her total of nine extra base hits.
--Props: Hooven was not the only Bucks player to produce at the plate. Sophomore Evi Cherry had a single, a well-executed sacrifice bunt, and stole a base. Left fielder Hailey Sigler had two hits on the day, shortstop Makala Burkholder contribute two hits, including a double down the left field line and leadoff hitter center fielder Jill Boyle also had two hits, including a single, double and also scored two runs. It was a good win for the Bucks, which now brings their record to three wins and four losses on the season.

Izzy O’Brien excelled in the circle and at the plate.
The Lower Moreland junior notched the win in the abbreviated contest and also turned in a 4-for-5 effort at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored.
The Lions scored two runs in the first and added two more in the fourth. They blew the game wide open with a 10-run fifth inning.

The inning also included singles from Izzy O’Brien (RBI), Molly Weber (RBI), Lily Seiner (RBI) and Lazauskas (RBI) as well as the second single from Zucker. The Lions also benefitted from a pair of Plumstead errors.

The visiting Patriots came up just short in their non-league game at Archbishop Wood Friday. The Patriots held a 9-7 advantage in hits but hurt themselves with miscues, and as a result, only two of the Vikings’ five runs were earned.
