SOL INIDIVIDUAL WRESTLERS & TEAMS IN THE SPOTLIGHT DURING 2025-26 SEASON

It’s no surprise many SOL Individual Wrestlers and Teams have been making noise this wrestling season, especially as we start to ramp up for the postseason. This past week marked the start of the 2025-26 PIAA Team Championships with the Round of 16 District One Team Championships kicking off Thursday night. Clearly, Council Rock South has positioned themselves to make a run at the D1 title and a spot in the PIAA AAA bracket. Thursday night’s winners will move to Upper Dublin HS for the quarterfinals, semis, wrestle-backs along with championship and consolation finals on Saturday January 31, 2026. Wrestling starts at 8:30am. As mentioned in my previous article, 10 SOL teams where initially in the hunt for one
of four spots to make it into the PIAA portion of the team championships. Now there are five still vying for a D1 team title.
Let’s turn to individual wrestlers, there are many to mention, and this year in Hershey should once again by plentiful in the medal count for SOL grapplers. Let’s start with Hatboro-Horsham junior Dom Morrison, who is wrestling individual tournaments down at 121-pounds. Morrison is on a tear this season finishing fifth at the Beast of the East while garnering his 100th win in Delaware. After winning a Wetzel Classic title at home over the holidays. He went on to capture his second straight Mid-Winter Mayhem title up at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with an incredible run thru the Mayhem to start the New Year. As the #4 seed he defeated 2025 U17 World Champion Keegan Bassett (Bishop McCort) in a battle, winning 10-9 in the quarterfinals. Morrison followed that win up with a 4-1 sudden-victory over returning PIAA and Fargo runner-up Matteo Gallegos (DuBois) in the semifinals to set up a title match-up with another returning PIAA 2nd place finisher, Brayden Wenrich (Northampton). In the finals, Morrison trailed 1-0 heading into the third before picking up an escape, takedown, and four near-fall points for the 8-1 win. Morrison, a 2024 state champion as a freshman and 5th last postseason is looking forward to more post-season glory in 2026 holding a season record of 31-2 and career record of 123-8.
The SOL also has Central Bucks East 2025 state champion Chase Williams wrestling up at 127 pounds who currently has a record of 21-3 on the season. Fellow Patriot, Jonny Hunter, a newcomer at 107lbs, has impressed with a 19-5 record and some state recognition as well. Lightweights in the SOL are stacked, and there have been some drops by Upper Dublin’s Dom Powell to 114-pounds. He finished 5th in 2025, and flipping of Council Rock South freshman Logan Worth to 121 and John Segata down to 114. Segata has been impressive with a title at Cumberland Valley to kick off the season, runner-up at the King of the Mountain and 5th at a shortened Escape the Rock tournament. Worth stands at 30-7 in his inaugural season, which sets him up well for the postseason with CRS’s schedule. The Golden Hawks have another super-frosh in Quinn Bagnell at 107 who is 24-4 capturing a Bethlehem Holiday Classic title along the way. CR North’s Nick Guzzo is a formidable grappler at 107 as well.
North’s A.J. Kane is highly touted at 114-pounds for the Indians and will be in the mix for a medal down the road later to Hershey. He recently upended South’s Segata 2-1. Pennridge has another Coffin, Matt Coffin, a freshman who looks good at 127-pounds at 23-5. Teammate Kevin McFadden up at 133 is looking for his first trip to Chocolate Town, USA, in his junior season. Moving up the latter weight-wise Patrick Woloshyn (CRS) and Pierce Kane (CRN) will be battling for a spot on the podium every week in the postseason if they stay in the same weight at either 139 or 145. Quinn McBride at 145 from Pennridge is closing out a great career with two state medals in three appearances in Hershey. What will he do in 2026?
There is always speculation about individuals bumping up or dropping down for the postseason, and if you look around the state, you can see why. Even locally and at the SE Regional level here in D1, there are some stacked weight classes that will be a grind from D1 Sectionals all the way to the PIAA finals. At 145 you have CB West’s Daniel Dennis along with Souderton’s Dominic Ramos, who made the drop from 152, looking for precious metal here in the convoluted middle. The Bucks are tough moving up, as Chris Dennis (172lb.) is looking for his fourth state medal, and this time it will be the hunt for gold once again. He has a great workout group with his brother and 160-pounder Kevin Mallon (22-5).
North Penn’s Jonny O’Brien is up at 172 as well, at least for now, Chris Dennis teched O’Brien recently, but he is a top-ranked grappler here nonetheless. Quakertown’s David Clayton is the best 189-pounder around locally, but he will need to up his game as he moves deep into the post. Other bigs looking to make a name for themselves are 215-pounder Sawyer Ermigiotti (Pennridge) who has improved tremendously and has positioned himself to medal at the big show. Two heavyweights to mention are CR South’s Matt Scott and Hatboro-Horsham’s Robbie Rose. Scott was the King of the Mountain at 285-pounds, runner-up at Cumberland Valley, 3rd at Bethlehem Holiday Classic and 6th at ETR. He may just be the most improved wrestler in all of D1 at 31-4 so far this season. He downed H-H’s Robbie Rose at the Parkland Duals 4-1, and both he and Rose will be in the David & Goliath battle to takedown Dean Bechtold from Owen J Roberts. Rose (24-3) has broken out this season with a big third-place finish at Mid-Winter Mayhem pinning his way thru great competition and added a Wetzel Classic title at home over the holidays to boot.
