Souderton 2, Upper Dublin 0
Souderton overcame a slow start and scored a pair of second-half goals to pull away for a 2-0 victory over Upper Dublin in Friday’s SOL Crossover game.
Hannah Beckett scored both Souderton goals, with Avery Cross assisting the first and Aidia Manners picking up the helper on the second.

Souderton coach Melissa Lollar: “Finishing a three-game week on the first week of school is always a challenge to push through. I felt in the first half we were very sloppy and chaotic in play. Lots of frustration all around that we couldn’t pull together. Going into the second half, we really adapted well and started to play our game and stayed composed and patient.”
—Props: “I thought we had a very good game defensively by Kylie Cummings, who made some key defensive plays for us to stop breakaways. Offensively, Aidia Manners and Avery Cross did a great job physically to keep the ball for us to allow us to get up for chances from our midfield. Julia Purvy and Lily Heron had some strong games off the ball and in space to create opportunities for us in the attack, and Hannah Beckett pulled through with some solid finishes to secure the win for us.”
Up next: Souderton will host Central Bucks South Tuesday (5pm), and Upper Dublin will host Plymouth Whitemarsh Tuesday.

The defending 4A state champs look like they haven’t lost a step in the new year.
Central Bucks East improved to 4-0-1 on the young season with a 2-0 win over Garnet Valley. In five games, the Patriots have not allowed a goal.
Mia Forney put the Patriots on the board in the 20th minute of the first half, then assisted on Ava Mignon’s goal seven minutes later.

Central Bucks East coach Jake Nesteruk: “This was a really productive day for us against a good Garnet Valley team. I thought their athleticism and transitional play took us a bit to get used to, but eventually we found some good match control and I was pleased with the chances we created. I thought Mia (Forney) put together a really good game for us, along with Kiera, and Mattie Williams going forward.
“The second half, I thought we got better, more in control of the tempo of the match, and were just a little wasteful with our opportunities. We were unfortunate to not get another Ava Mignon goal from distance in this one, after hitting the crossbar from 30 out. She's been huge for us in setting the intensity of play and it's great to see her become such a threat in the final third.
“While we'd love a goal or two more, I’m really proud of our group for picking up the fifth clean sheet in as many games and for controlling much of this game.”
—Props: “It took an all-around effort to make it happen, but hats off to Cece (Hayes), Ella (Roumy), Addie (Langlois) and some key moments from Mackenzie Peters across the back.”

Youth will be served. Sometimes, it just takes time to get things rolling.
The young Plymouth Whitemarsh squad shook off some early struggles and rallied for a 2-1 victory over Archbishop Ryan in Friday’s nonleague matchup.
Maddi Lazaroff set up Skylar Wawrzynek for what would hold up as the game-winning goal in the first two minutes of the second half.

Plymouth Whitemarsh coach TJ DeLucia: “This season continues to be a process. We have a really nice group of players. They are very low drama, which makes the team fun to coach. But, with that, there is a lot of youth and inexperience and they are still learning what is required of them at varsity soccer, whether it is at practice or in games. The first 15 minutes today were really poor. We did not come out with the required level of energy, intensity, focus, etc.
“We had a terrific practice (Thursday), too. So I don't know if it was the Labor Day Friday situation or what, but it wasn't up to our standard. We give up a corner one minute in and were super-lackadaisical in how we set up in our corner defense. With that, we go down 1-0.”
—Sparking the team: “Fifteen minutes into the game, we made three subs – midfielders Soph Nagle, Sophie Ippolito, and Emma Meyer – and they really changed the energy and trajectory of the game.
“With 11 minutes remaining in the first half, sophomore Lori Flannery receives a ball about 25 yards out, beats her defender, and then has a terrific near post finish with her left foot. Lori was excellent all day today, and honestly, she was at Hatboro, as well. Her energy and effort is a joy to watch. And this year, she is really showing improved skill on the ball. The sky is the limit for her.”
—Halftime challenge: “We challenged our team at halftime to come out in the second half the way we finished the first, not the way we started the game. And 70 seconds into the second half, senior Maddi Lazaroff takes a free kick from about 40 yards out and freshman Skylar Wawrzynek skies for the header and earns her second goal of the young season. Laz played a beautiful ball in as she typically does for her first assist of the season. Laz has been our assist leader in each of the past three seasons.”
—Props: “Sophomore midfielder Molly McEvoy's work rate must be acknowledged today. She was on a mission in the second half and completely dominated the midfield. She will be rewarded on the scoresheet soon for the work that she does.
—Bella (on) the ball: “One last shoutout: senior right back Bella Zeoli was outstanding today. Bella is a senior forward/midfielder who we asked early in the summer to play right back for us, out of necessity. She didn't push back at all, embraced the challenge and is getting more comfortable in the position every day. That sacrifice by her is a great model for the young players on our team.”
—Strong finish: “All in all, we're very happy and proud with how the team responded in the final 60 minutes of today's game. They've earned a couple days off and we'll get back at it next week.”

Lower Moreland 5, Dock Mennonite 0
Emma Leibert racked up a natural hat trick in the first half as Lower Moreland rolled to a 5-0 victory over Dock Mennonite in Friday’s nonleague game.
Leibert scored in the game’s opening minutes, then added two in a 22-second span, with the third goal coming off a strong pass from Gabbie Sellecchia into the box.
Quinn Rosanski scored a pair of second-half goals for the Lions, the final one coming on a perfectly placed penalty kick.

Lower Moreland coach Todd Hill: “The girls had a really dominant game today against a talented Dock Mennonite squad. We know what kind of program Dock has had for years. We know they always put a really good product on the field. And we were really determined today to go toe-to-toe with them, and it turned into a really good game. We played both aggressive soccer and smart soccer, which turned into a really complete game of good soccer.”
—Props: “Junior Emma Leibert had a day. She was dominant from start to finish. She scored a hat trick with really beautiful soccer plays!
“Senior Shannon Mahon was such a force up top today as well. She puts so much pressure on the back line, and our group behind her is the beneficiary of her pressure.
“Our three wing backs played a really smart game today as well: Senior Jordyn Fox, junior Sammy Pennisi, and sophomore Cam Cawley.
“And a big shout-out to senior goalkeeper Mariah Gazzara with her third clean sheet in a row! She is really athletic and really smart – a great combination for a standout keeper.
“And can’t forget a brace from Quinn Rozanski!”
