SOL crossover non-league
Abington 13, Council Rock South 9
Katie Pennekamp scored seven goals and assisted on two others to lead the Ghosts’ attack in Wednesday’s SOL crossover contest. She also had seven ground balls, five draw controls and two caused turnovers as she filled a stat sheet.
Cheyenne Fisher recorded six saves in a winning effort in goal.

“The Abington Lady Ghosts, with contributions all over the field in an impressive win. Katie 
Pennekamp powered the offense with 7 goals and 2 assists while also adding 7 ground balls, 5 draw controls, and 2 caused turnovers. Carly Hughes filled the stat sheet with 2 goals, 3 assists, 7 caused turnovers, 7 ground balls, and 7 draw controls in a dominant all-around effort. Abby Ellner added 2 goals and an assist, while Charlotte Lowery contributed a goal and assist. Chelsey Higgins scored once and added an assist, and Charlie Hopkins chipped in an assist and strong defensive play. Defensively, the Lady Ghosts were relentless. Erin Ely controlled the midfield with 2 assists, 2 caused turnovers, and 2 ground balls. Keely Gallagher added 2 caused turnovers and 2 ground balls, while Grace Warchol, Joanna Duff, and Caleigh Fitzgerald each made key defensive stops. Cheyenne Fisher anchored the defense in net with 7 saves to help secure the win.”

The Golden Bears recognized their nine seniors and then celebrated with a shutout win.
UM's Molly McCann was perfect in goal, turning away all 12 shots she faced in a stellar outing. Eleven UM players contributed to the scoring in a balanced attack.

“Molly was a brick wall in the goal tonight with 12 saves. Hatboro had some great shots on goal, but Molly was able to save them all for the shut out.

“Tonight (the girls) played with grit, heart, composure, intensity, and a genuine love of the game. The coaching staff is so proud of every single one of them. They are putting in the time and effort at practice, and it is truly showing on the field. The defense played with their feet instead of relying on their sticks. The midfield poured their souls into winning the draw. The attack stayed calm under pressure.

Up next: Upper Moreland (14-4) is second in the latest District 1 2A rankings and await its final seed at Saturday’s seeding meeting. Hatboro-Horsham will travel to Dock Mennonite Academy for a non-league game Friday.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 13, Strath Haven 7
The Colonials, who led 3-1 after one quarter, took an 8-2 lead into halftime on their way to the non-league win.
Grace Harvey’s six-point game led the Colonials’ attack while Maite Jayo had a five-point game. Ellie Coyle contributed four goals to PW’s attack.

--Props: “PW started strong off the draw with Riley Martin, getting seven draw controls. Her teammates - Gracie Kerns, Maite Jayo and Grace Harvey - also chipped in on draw possession.
“Offensively, Grace Harvey led the way, but she had Maite and Ellie score multiple goals and Riley Martin had one. But it doesn't matter who scored because the offense worked the ball around and worked well together to find the open players. Gracie Kerns, Shae Murphy, Rachel Craft, and Jackie Spinelli are part of that offense.
“Our defense helped us to gain an 8-2 lead at halftime. They pressured Strath Haven and were all over the field going after the ball. Playing great defensively was Sophie Nagle, Kai Jayo, Grace Harvey, Esther Backentose, Kiera Whelan, Gracie Kerns, Lily Knaggs, Maite Jayo and goalie Addi Stein.”
Up next: Plymouth Whitemarsh will travel to New Hope-Solebury Thursday. The Colonials will clinch sole possession of the SOL American Conference title with a win.

CB South Edges Archbishop Wood in Thrilling Senior Night Overtime Victory

It was a memorable Senior Night at Central Bucks South as the Titans honored five outstanding seniors; Tessa Walls, Kaeli Vandersluis, Jordyn McCartin, Kaylee Conner, and Alivia Lloyd before delivering a dramatic 10–9 overtime win against Archbishop Wood.
CB South came out strong in the first quarter, jumping on the scoreboard early when junior Kelly McDonald finished a goal with an assist from Tessa Walls to tie the game at 1–1. After Archbishop Wood responded with a run to take a 4–1 lead, the Titans regrouped. Junior captain Sarah Victor sparked momentum out of a timeout, followed by a goal from Walls to cut the deficit to 4–3. Wood added a late goal to close the quarter up 5–3.
The second quarter saw Wood extend its lead to 8–4, but CB South stayed within striking distance. Senior attacker Kaylee Conner converted an 8-meter opportunity late in the half to make it 8–5 heading into the break.
Out of halftime, the Titans showed resilience. After Wood pushed the lead to 9–5, Walls and McDonald responded with back-to-back goals to make it 9–7. Strong defensive play on both sides kept the score unchanged through the remainder of the third quarter.
In the fourth, CB South’s defense set the tone. A key caused turnover by Vandersluis led to a transition opportunity, with McDonald finishing off a well-executed sequence to make it 9–8. Later in the quarter, Walls delivered a perfect assist to McDonald, who buried the equalizer to tie the game
at 9–9. The Titans had additional chances late, but the game remained deadlocked, sending it to overtime.
In a tense extra period, CB South’s defense rose to the occasion. Playing a player down late in the first overtime, Vandersluis made a crucial slide to deny a wide-open Wood attacker. The Titans held strong through the remainder of the period and into sudden death.
In sudden death overtime, senior captain Jordyn McCartin made a tremendous end-to-end run to transition the ball into the offensive zone. The possession worked through Elysia Fessler and Kaylee Conner before finding McDonald in the middle. With 1:07 remaining, McDonald delivered the game-winning goal, sealing an unforgettable Senior Night victory for CB South.
The Titans showed tremendous heart and resilience, battling back multiple times and refusing to give in. It was a fitting performance to honor a senior class that has left a lasting impact on the program.
