Effort, experience, and belief, according to coach Maddie Dachowski, allowed the Rams to pull out a victory in just the final minutes of Monday’s game. Gianna Leuthe scored the game-winner with eight seconds remaining. Madigan Posey’s five-goal, one-assist effort led the Rams, and Megan Moylan had a career-high eight draw controls.
A pair of Rock South players – Mia Geneles and Mia Schink – reached personal milestones. Both reached the 100-goal mark.

--The game: “There was no point where we were winning the game today until eight seconds were left. This is just not a position this team finds themselves in very often, and to be honest, I was concerned. Something was a bit off today - a flat warmup and four days off from school. I felt like the girls couldn’t shake off their break at first.
“CR South had a great start against us last season, and they came out the same way today. Aggressive on the draw and dangerous at the X. Defensively, it felt like every single defensive effort we made - there was a whistle. We got worried to put a body on the attackers, and they capitalized. We were able to make second half adjustments all over the field. We knew it would be one step at a time, and I don’t think I took a second off cheering for the girls and reminding them to dig in, fight for themselves and their teammates, and the job wasn’t over.
“A dominant fourth quarter and the momentum was on our side. We edged out the game winner with eight seconds to spare and ran away with the game. We have learned what it is like to show up in big moments when it counts, and the girls saved their season and goals today. I’m proud they pulled it off but definitely walking away ready to make adjustments and get back to the expectations and standards this team has.”
--Standout moments: Madigan Posey put up six points today. Megan Moylan with a career high eight draw controls and four points. Gianna Leuthe returned and put up four goals including the game winner.
How it happened: “Four Rams with hat tricks on the day and Kayla Verespy with a three-point showing provided solid offensive moments. Madigan Posey, like usual, got the Rams started with
the first and Emma Gall, assisted by Kayla Verespy, notched the Rams second. Madigan and Emma didn’t stop there, and both put up goals in the second quarter. Megan Moylan and Gianna Leuthe got on the board as well and each secured their first on the day.
“The score was 6-10 at half, I reminded the girls there is nothing we can’t come back from. I asked them to work harder, to want it more and to find a way. In the third quarter, we sparked moments I hadn’t seen all game. Posey, Leuthe, and Gall (assist Verespy) all put up a goal in the third. This is the first quarter that we outscored CR South, and possession felt like it was finally coming our way.
“We needed to hold that momentum that spark and ride the wave into the fourth. CR South controlled the ball off the first draw of the fourth and spread the field. They were beginning to chew up the clock where they could, and I wanted to get aggressive to get the ball back in our hands or at least a chance to. They went to cage and scored with 10 minutes on the clock, taking their lead back up by four. I told the girls - this is our chance right now. If they are giving us an opportunity to get the ball back, we need to make them regret it, and that’s exactly what we did.
“The spark of the draw was credited to Meg Moylan, Gianna Leuthe, and Madigan Posey, we had a few rotating look on the circle today, but this unit came up big in the fourth when we needed it 
most. Madigan scored our 10th goal (10-13) off an 8m out of a fast break. About 30 seconds later, Meg Moylan hit replay and did exact same thing and capitalized on her 8m opportunity (11-13). Thirty seconds later, another draw win put us to the offensive end where Meg found Madigan cutting in the 8m where she scored her fifth and final goal on the day (12-13). CR South finally gained their second and last possession of the game and were able to score with 4:30 remaining (12-14).
“The next draw was ours where Meg Moylan had an immediate response to CR South, putting up her third and final (13-14). Thirty seconds later, in a huge individual effort, Kayla Verespy took a drive to notch our tying goal. (14-14).
“The big moments are saved for the big names, and Gianna Leuthe is no stranger to that weight on her shoulders. Leuthe missed our first six games, and she was very ready to be back on the field with her team. I trust Gi completely on the field. She is vocal, she is aggressive, and she knows how to win. I leaned into it and asked her to step up. We secured the most important draw of the game, and I let the offense work for a solid two minutes. We couldn’t find the cage on our own, so we took a timeout and made a game plan. Leuthe was able to find the back of the net with eight seconds on the clock, giving us our first lead of the game, and the comeback felt just about complete. Leuthe was not done and put the nail in the coffin at the horn, taking the final to 16-14 Rams. When the clock hit zero, I could finally take the biggest sign of relief. We won, it was messy, it was far from our best, but we pulled it off.”
“Looking forward to taking on crosstown rival Quakertown tomorrow at home. Looking to move forward and never allow ourselves in that position again this season.”
Council Rock South coach Marina Schreiner:
“We lost to Pennridge today, but it was a great game. We were up the whole game, but Pennridge came back in the last quarter and was able to score the tiebreaking goal with eight seconds left. The game really came down to draw controls, and Pennridge pulled out more possessions than we did in the final quarter.
“We also had two more big milestones in this game. Mia Schink and Mia Geneles both hit 100 goals.”
Up next: Pennridge (6-1, 3-0 SOL) will host Quakertown Tuesday (7:30pm), and Council Rock South is off until next Monday when the Golden Hawks will travel to Central Bucks East.

UPPER DUBLIN 16, UPPER DUBLIN 4
The Cardinals jumped out to a 10-1 lead after one quarter – sparked by the dominant effort of Bridget DiMartile on the draw. For the game, the Michigan-bound junior had 14 draw controls, and she effectively set the tone for Monday’s win in the opening quarter.
DiMartile also had a hand in six goals, finishing with four goals and two assists. Maeve Hogan and Abby Rucker both had five-point games while Ava Shohen contributed four points.

“We jumped out to an early lead, which was led by Bridget DiMartile winning the majority of the draws. It allowed us to take control and set the tone.
“It is always tough playing on a Monday, especially after a holiday, but the girls responded by playing hard and working for every possession.
“Upper Moreland is always tough and they play to the final whistle. Today was no different.”
Upper Moreland coach Kim Frantz:
“This was a very defensive game, and our defense really worked hard throughout the whole game. UD is a strong team, and being a young team, we really had to work each possession we had to hold onto the ball. Our attack did well when we had possession and took care of the ball, which is something we have really been working on.
“Overall UD is a really strong team this year, and it’s good for us to go against such a good team. We will learn from this game and move onto William Tennett tomorrow.”
Up next: Upper Dublin will be on the road at Quakertown Thursday, and Upper Moreland will host William Tennent Tuesday.
