Pennridge 11, Central Bucks East 7
The Lady Rams found themselves on the short end of a 4-3 score at halftime, but in an inspired third quarter, they outscored the Patriots 5-1 to take a lead they would not lose. They went on to open up an 11-4 lead on their way to the conference win.
Gianna Leuthe led the Rams’ attack with five goals and one assist and reached the 100 career point milestone.
For the Patriots, McKenna Lynch had four goals and two assists and Paige Dougherty also had a five-point game with two goals and three assists. Cece Hayes led the way with seven draw controls.

--Morgan's Message: "Tonight was our Morgan’s Message game where we focus on playing for something greater and taking steps to bring awareness to mental health and suicide prevention, especially for athletes. This is a cause that means so much to me and this team. Teaching my players that they can be powerful and vulnerable at the same time is important. We honor Morgan and all of the athletes we have tragically lost over the years. We love you and we miss you."
--The game: “East played a great game tonight, and we expect them to. They have a solid defensive unit and some good players, so I knew we had to bring it. We had a slow first half, which was frustrating because our shots were completely off. We either shot to the goalie’s stick or feet almost every time. Shooting and shot selection was a big conversation at halftime. East did a good job slowing the ball and capitalizing on offense opportunities in the first half all together. Our defense was playing well but all around, the team needed to step up and wake up. I asked my team if they had what they needed to focus on so they could have a better second half. We talked about value of our position and creating the opportunities we worked hard to prep at practice.
“We had a great spark in the third, putting up five goals and holding East to just one was a huge momentum turn. The team was starting to play like I know they can. We remained calm under pressure and quickly switched the games control fully in our hands. We started the fourth quarter fast, keeping our foot on the gas and putting up a few more to take our lead to 11-4. At this point, the game would need to focus on taking time off the clock. East fought hard getting 8-meter opportunities at the end of the game, but our lead took us through to the end for a great all-around win. I think a game like tonight prepares us for a very tough week as we have our two strongest conference competitors up next. I am really excited to continue to push this group, and I know if we fight our hardest, we will come out on top.”
Hitting a milestone: ‘Gianna Leuthe was on fire tonight, leading the team with six points on five goals and one assist. Gi went into tonight four away from 100 career points, and I had no doubt she would hit this mark. Gi put up both first quarter goals, her first off a Madigan Posey assist and the next off an 8m free position. In the second, she assisted a cutting Kayla Verespy, securing her third point. She scored her fourth point with another 8m free position. Leuthe went on to score two more back-to-back goals, calling her night off at six (5g 1a). We are really excited to celebrate the first of many milestones for Gi. She lost the first half of the season, so to see her back in action is awesome. Gi truly has her sights set on bigger moments for herself and this team for the remainder of the season. So, we welcome her to the 100-point club with excitement, but also ready to expect even more for her.”
--Player props: “Another standout performance from Megan Moylan on the draw tonight. Meg is out of control good and to see her talents kick off each game on the draw is awesome. I trust her skill and effort to put this team in a winning position every time.
“Jenna Verespy had another great game with three caused turnovers and two ground balls. Jenna is super smart and a very level-headed, consistent presence on our defensive end. She is using her voice more at practice and on the field, and I am really proud of the way she rose to the occasion tonight. “Harper Posey was steady as always with her constant efforts in the midfield with three caused turnovers and two ground balls as well.
“Norah Herbst stood out tonight on the defensive end. I feel like Norah always has the team on her back, and she has made some adjustments these past few games that I am really impressed with. She was very consistent stopping 1v1 drivers and cutters throughout the whole game.
“Nina Rotella stood tall in cage and had 7 saves on the night.”
Central Bucks East coach Kelly Tait:
“We knew tonight's game would be a big challenge, so our focus was on controlling what we could control and just playing our game. It was a true team effort, with every player contributing and pushing to give a full 60 minutes of their best lacrosse. We led 4–3 at halftime, but Pennridge came out strong in the third quarter and scored four unanswered goals. We weren’t able to regain the lead, but we stayed competitive throughout, and I’m really proud of the way the girls kept the game tight and battled until the end.”
Up next: Pennridge will host Council Rock North for its Senior Night game Monday, and Central Bucks East will be on the road at Neshaminy on Monday.

Plymouth Whitemarsh 9, Springfield Twp 7
PW raced out of the gate to a 5-2 lead after one quarter. It was still a three-goal game at halftime. The Spartans made it an 8-6 game heading into the final quarter, but the Colonials held on for the win.
Gracie Kerns and Maite Jayo both had a four-point game to lead PW’s attack. Grace Harvey led the defense with five caused turnovers, and she led PW with four draw controls.
For the Spartans, Casen Powell had a five-point game, and Frankie Rizzo had a hand in four goals.

“It was a tough hard-fought game on both sides. Springfield made us work for everything. We had a lot of forced turnovers that gave Springfeld life when a couple of them found the net. But we kept pushing and fighting for every possession.
--Props: “Kai Jayo worked hard on the draw and on the defensive end. Soph Nagle and Esther Backentose did a lot of nice things on the defensive end and in transition.
“Maite Jayo and Gracie Kerns led the offense. Several different players had the opportunity to play due to a couple veteran players being sick. Lilly Knaggs and Ava Hales stepped in and did a good job.”
Springfield Twp coach Katrina Borzelleca:
--The game: “A very hard-fought game today. Lots of momentum swings and runs from both teams. The team kept its composure and played together right from the first whistle. PW is a solid team and we had to fight for everything we got today. The girls showed up and played one of their best games of the season.
“Offense was moving well together and finding each other. We've seen several teams this season who play backer D and we worked through the things that we know to do and were successful. We were patient with the ball and controlled possession when we needed to.
“Our midfield play was crucial for our opportunities and I felt the girls played well and read the field very well on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Our offense got involved in the transition out of the zone and came up with some good double teams.
“Defense has been getting better and better each game. The communication was loud and so helpful today. They saw the slides, communicated what was needed and were really there supporting each other crashing and swarming everywhere on the field.
“So proud of the girls and their fight through the very end. We had some opportunities we needed to convert on, but they gave it their all, played together as a unit, cheered each other on and did exactly what we asked them to do.”
--Schock reaches milestone: “Our goalie Stormii Schock - Sprague had her 300th career save today and played a phenomenal game. She has been solid in the cage for us this year and already celebrated her 200th this season... that is a testament to how well she has been doing and the amount of shots she has seen throughout the season. It was a great moment to see the team celebrating her and her milestone.”

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 9, BENSALEM 8
The Lions won an overtime thriller, winning it when senior Prosper Chen scored the game-winner with 1.2 seconds remaining.
Ceci Capriotti led a balanced Lions’ attack with two goals and one assist.
Anchoring the defense was goalie Valerie Segler with 10 saves while Addy Weisbrot had six caused turnovers.
Olivia Conte reached a personal milestone with the 100th draw control of her career.

“What an exciting game. We were up, then down the up, then tied. At halftime, we came back and took the lead, then Bensalem tied it up.
“The girls never gave up, and with 1.2 seconds left in OT our senior, Prosper Chen, scored the winning goal. We had five girls scoring and four players with assists. The girls never gave up and played their game.”

Council Rock South 9, Gwynedd Mercy Academy 9 (OT)
Overtime could not determine a winner in Wednesday’s spirited non-league battle that included its share of momentum shifts.
Camryn Brundage’s seven-point game led the Golden Hawks. Goalie Gabby Terekhov was credited with nine saves, including a game-saving stop on an 8-meter shot with three second remaining in regulation.

“It was a thriller of a game. Gwynedd had an 8-meter with three seconds left in the fourth quarter, and our goalie (Gabby Terekhov) came up with a huge save. Then in overtime our defense did an incredible job stopping their drives.”
