Upper Dublin 16, Penncrest 7
Upper Dublin overcame a sluggish and sloppy start to roll to a 16-7 victory over Penncrest in Monday’s nonleague game. The Cardinal defense gave its attackers time to get into the flow of the game and build a 9-2 lead by halftime.
Emma Shervin made four saves for the Cardinals, while Ava Shohen dished out six assists and scored two of her own, while Maeve Hogan netted six goals and added an assist.

Upper Dublin coach Dee Cross: “We got off to a slow start today. We were not taking care of the ball initially. The defense really stepped up and locked in, which helped the rest of the team settle down and control the pace. Penncrest was fast and aggressive, and every game they play in the Central League is always a battle. It was a good test for us and showed what we need to work on as a team.”

Springfield Twp 15, Tampa Catholic 8
Springfield Twp is visiting Florida over Spring Break, but not just for sun.
The Spartans are getting in some games while visiting the Sunshine State, opening their road trip with a 15-8 win over Tampa Catholic at the Joe DiMaggio Fields in Clearwater.
Casen Powell led the Spartans with five goals and an assist.

Springfield Twp coach Katrina Metz Borzelleca: “It was a great team effort today to get a win on our spring break trip down to Clearwater. Tampa Catholic had some speed and great stickwork, but we stuck with our game plan and executed.
“All-around great effort from our team. We were missing some starters, so we had many people playing new or different positions and they responded so well. We had six players contributing with goals and assists today. Playing on grass is always an adjustment for ground balls and, while it was a struggle in the beginning, the team figured it out and took control. We had some great looks on attack – both taking fast breaks and also working the ball around when we needed. The offense is really coming together, seeing each other and working well as a team. We are making good choices with our shot selection and really excelling there, too.
“The team is enjoying their time here – playing the game together, getting some practices in, and having some great team bonding time, too.”
