Central Bucks East 19, Delaware County Christian 1
Now that’s how you kick off a new season!
Central Bucks East roared out of the gate in Friday’s season-opener, pounding in 11 goals in the first quarter and rolling to a dominant 19-1 win over nonleague opponent Delaware County Christian.
In all, 14 players contributed to the scoring, including five freshmen earning their first varsity goals.
Central Bucks East coach Kelly Tait: “It was a great team effort. McKenna Lynch and Paige Dougherty led the attack, each registering a hat trick. We were thrilled to get Avery Stephenson and Brooke Breen back from injuries that kept them sidelined last year. We also were able to celebrate the first varsity goals of Ella Menard, Fiona St. George, Keira Check, Quinn Marsland, Casey Smith. Our defense did a great job of allowing only 4 shots on goal.”

Upper Moreland 13, Pottsgrove 1
Sparked by Kiera Hess’ five goals and Eva Gorrell’s four points, Upper Moreland opened its spring season by roaring out to a 12-0 lead after three quarters and earned a 13-1 victory over Pottsgrove in Friday’s nonleague season-opener.
Molly McCann made 6 saves to earn the win in the cage.

Upper Moreland coach Kim Frantz: “Overall, today was a great team effort and we are all excited to be back on the lacrosse field! We had 10 different girls have a hand in 13 goals. Our defense is working hard to work together and be a unit.”
Strong start: “We are excited for two of our freshmen – Gianna Morrison and Maci Griffith – to get their first high school career goals.”
Props: “Keira Hess came out ready to go and played awesome with 5 goals today. Keiley Hawk and Eva Gorrell played amazing all over the field on attack and defense!”

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 16, CONWELL-EGAN 10
The Lions opened the season with an impressive non-league win over Conwell-Egan, opening up an 11-4 halftime lead and never looking back.
Ceci Capriotti (4 goals, 2 assists) and Olivia Conte (4 goals) led the attack. Conte also was a force at the center of the field with seven draw controls.

West Chester Henderson 10, Plymouth Whitemarsh 7
Plymouth Whitemarsh clung to a 4-3 lead at halftime, but the third quarter made the difference as West Chester Henderson exploded for 5 goals to jump ahead and hold on in the fourth quarter to hand the Colonials a 10-7 loss in Friday’s nonleague season-opener.
Riley Martin led PW with 3 goals.
By the numbers: Plymouth Whitemarsh: Riley Martin (3 G), Katie Guarino (2 G, 1 A), Rachel Craft (1 G, 1 A), Grace Harvey (1 G), Addi Stein (6 saves).
PW coach Ellen Reilly: “We played a great first half. We were patient on offense and played great team defense. The third quarter got away from us. We had opportunities at the draw, on defense and on offense, but we committed too many mistakes. We didn't possess the ball off the draw when we had a chance, we made some weak shots and lost the ball in possession, and on defense we didn't finish the transition. We went down 8-5 at the end of the third and couldn't catch up in the fourth.”
Up next: The Colonials host Wilson today at 2 pm, then visit Council Rock South at 3:30 pm Tuesday.

West Chester Henderson 1 2 5 2 – 10
Upper Perkiomen 14, Quakertown 13 (OT)
Quakertown battled valiantly throughout the game to overcome a first-half deficit, scoring six goals in the fourth quarter to rally to tie the score at 13-13 after regulation. But Upper Perkiomen scored the golden goal early in overtime to pull out a hard-fought 14-13 decision over the Panthers in Friday’s season-opener.
Casey Rosenberger led the Panthers with seven goals, while Darcy Baxter recorded a hat trick.

Haverford 12, Upper Dublin 0
The Cardinals knew they would be in for a challenge in Friday night's non-league opener at Haverford. Minus key starters who are members of the basketball team, the Cardinals struggled against a strong Fords' squad but battled to the final whistle.
“We have a very young, inexperienced team so it was a tough game to open the season with," UD coach Dee Cross said. "Haverford is strong and fast.
“With one returning varsity starter on the field, we never gave up. A bright spot was Freshman Emma Shervin in goal. She played a phenomenal game and ended with a 55 percent save percentage. She faced point blank shots and held her composure.
“We will get back at it on Monday and continue to work to get better."
Up next: Upper Dublin is off until Thursday when the Cards will host Boyertown.
