The Suburban One League American Conference will begin play this Friday, and the battle for the conference championship appears to be a bit more competitive this season.
Plymouth Whitemarsh is the four-time defending conference champion and has dominated the conference the last four seasons.
The Colonials have been unbeaten in conference play in each of those four years and are currently on a 22-game conference winning streak.
The last PW conference loss came on October 23, 2020, when the Colonials lost to Upper Moreland, 63-35.
The six-team SOL American Conference has played five non-conference games in preparation for conference play.
Wissahickon (5-0) has impressed so far in 2025 and is unbeaten with victories over Upper Dublin (23-16), Upper Merion (52-28), Archbishop Carroll (38-14), Sun Valley (27-14), and Interboro (41-21).
Springfield (3-1) & Upper Moreland (3-2) go into conference play with winning non-conference records, while William Tennent (1-4) and Hatboro Horsham (0-5) go into conference play with losing non-conference records.
And what about 4-time defending champion Plymouth Whitemarsh?
The Colonials are an uncharacteristic 2-3 in the 2025 season with non-conference wins over Penn Wood (44-0) and Interboro (26-23) – and non-conference losses to West Chester Henderson (40-35), Wilson West Lawn (27-7) & Manheim Township (37-31).
Will those Colonials add to its 22-game SOL American Conference winning streak and win the conference for the 5th year in a row?

‘Still The One’…..classic song by Orleans
Pennridge is unbeaten and is still the No. 1 ranked 6A team in all of District One after the Rams surprised North Penn last week, 34-10.
Pennridge (5-0, 2-0) had not defeated the Knights (3-2, 0-2) in 12 long years and most prognosticators (except for guest forecaster Amelia V. Moyer) did not foresee a Ram victory.
Pennridge led 6-3 at halftime and exploded for 28 second half points to place an exclamation point on the win.
Senior quarterback Noah Keating had himself a spectacular night having a hand in all 4 Ram touchdowns – rushing for 3 scores – and passing for a touchdown.
Placekicker Luis Nunes connected on 2 field goals and 4 extra points.
Next up for Pennridge is a home game under the Friday night lights against a struggling Abington (1-4, 0-2). The Ghosts lost last week to Neshaminy (4-1, 2-0), 48-6.
Can the unbeaten Rams ‘still be one’ in the district and a perfect 6-0 after their game with Abington?

Souderton ‘Bowls’ over Quakertown
Souderton reclaimed the ‘309 Bowl’ trophy with a convincing 49-12 victory over Quakertown.
Quakertown shocked the Indians last year to earn the ‘309 Bowl’ showpiece with a startling 35-34 victory. The Panthers trailed Souderton 28-0 in the first quarter but rallied all the way back to earn the victory.
Quakertown (2-3, 1-1) jumped out to an early 12-0 lead in the 2025 rematch – but this time it was the Indians that rallied back to torch the Panthers with a 49-0 answer to win going away.
Souderton joins Council Rock South as the only unbeaten teams in SOL Continental Conference play.
This week the Indians (4-1, 2-0) will host Cheltenham (1-4, 0-2), while the Golden Hawks (4-1, 2-0) will host Bensalem (3-2, 1-1).

It’s a ‘One’der ful World
Harry S Truman & William Tennent both celebrated victories last week to end agonizing losing streaks.
Truman (1-4, 1-1) defeated winless Council Rock North (0-5, 0-2), 20-7. The victory over the Indians ended a 13-game losing streak by the Tigers.-4%202.jpg)
William Tennent (1-4) defeated winless JP McCaskey (0-5), 22-6. The victory over the Red Tornado ended an 8-game losing streak by the Panthers.
Both Truman and Tennent would like nothing better than to start a 2025 winning streak.
The Tigers will travel to Upper Dublin (1-4, 1-1) to play the Flying Cardinals, while the Panthers will be on the road to play unbeaten Wissahickon (5-0).

Central Bucks West captured a key conference victory as the Bucks rallied to defeat district rival Central Bucks South, 25-21. Louie Cipollo scored on an 80-yard run and fired a touchdown pass to Owen Pudlo. Nick Miletto scored what proved to be the game winning TD in the 4thquarter, while Mason Darrows kicked a field goal for the winners.
Neshaminy routed Abington, 48-6. Quarterback Michael Eckart completed 16 of 17 passes for 251 yards and 5 touchdowns. Bobby Lager caught 2 of those TD strikes - while Brock Williams, Nick Sassano & Michael Sassano caught the other TD passes. Carter Clee scored a rushing touchdown, while Malakhi Fox scored on an interception return for a touchdown.

Central Bucks East Patriots (4-1, 1-1) @ North Penn Knights (3-2, 0-2)

Last Week:
Central Bucks East registered a shutout as the Patriots defeated winless Pennsbury, 7-0. The lone score of the game came on a 6-yard touchdown run by East’s Hunter Pulford.
North Penn remained winless in conference play as the Knights were defeated by unbeaten Pennridge, 34-10. The only scoring plays for North Penn was a field goal in the first half and a 4th quarter touchdown run by Rylei Gray.

Last Week:
Abington struggled in a 48-6 loss to Neshaminy. The lone score for the Ghosts came on a touchdown pass from Miles Yockus to Ty Taylor.
Pennridge remained unbeaten with a 34-10 victory over North Penn. Noah Keating had an outstanding offensive game as the quarterback rushed for 73 yards and 3 touchdowns. Keating also passed for 113 yards and fired a touchdown pass to Sean Leuthe. Luis Nunes booted 2 field goals – one of 41 yards & the other of 36 yards. Nunes was perfect on four extra points.

Pennsbury continued to struggle offensively as the Falcons were shut out by Central Bucks East, 7-0. Pennsbury has scored just 27 points over the first 5 games and has been shut out 2 weeks in a row.
Central Bucks South lost a key conference game to district rival Central Bucks West, 25-21. Gavin Graham had a terrific day on the offensive side of the ball as he scored 3 rushing touchdowns.

Bensalem captured a key conference game as the Owls soared to a 38-30 victory over Cheltenham. The offensive fireworks came from Aiden Mayfield who scored on a touchdown pass from Myles Annan and also scored on a kickoff return. Annan also scored on a touchdown run. Joey Dougherty returned an interception for a touchdown.
Council Rock South remained unbeaten in the conference as the Golden Hawks soared to a 34-14 victory over Upper Dublin. Quarterback Marley Emerson passed for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns – one to Nate Szydlik and the other to Dan Horn. Szydlik and Jerry Rogers each scored rushing touchdowns for the winners.

Cheltenham Panthers (1-4, 0-2) @ Souderton Indians (4-1, 2-0)

Last Week:
Cheltenham lost leads in both the first and second half and dropped a 38-30 conference game against Bensalem. Among the touchdown makers for the Panthers were Deion Evans and Carsen Giddiens.
Souderton exploded for 49 unanswered points as the Indians defeated Quakertown, 49-12. Mujana Sudi & Caleb Moyer each scored 2 touchdowns for the Big Red, while Ben Walsh, Michael McCormick, & Nate Rusike also scored rushing touchdowns.

Council Rock North remained winless as the Indians suffered a 20-7 conference loss to Truman. CR North has been outscored 157-34 so far this season.
Quakertown led 12-0 early in the game but was outscored 49-0 after taking that lead in a 49-12 conference loss to Souderton. Jackson Connelly scored both Panther touchdowns on runs of 1 and 5 yards.

Harry S Truman captured its first win of the season with a 20-7 conference victory over winless Council Rock North. Raheem Bradley stole the offensive spotlight for the Tigers scoring a rushing touchdown, intercepting a pass for a touchdown and catching a touchdown pass from Evan Houser.
Upper Dublin battled Council Rock South to a 14-14 tie in the first half, but the Flying Cardinals were grounded the remainder of the game in a 34-14 conference loss.

Upper Moreland knocked West Chester Henderson out of the unbeaten ranks as the Golden Bears defeated the Warriors, 21-14. Justin Valentin scored 2 rushing touchdowns, while Elijah Davis scored the game winning touchdown in the 4th quarter.
Springfield lost for the first time this season as the Spartans fell to Father Judge of the Philadelphia Catholic League, 48-27. Nathan Torrealba threw for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns, while Zymir Small rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown.

William Tennent had scored only 14 points all season, but the Panther offense came alive in a 22-6 victory over JP McCaskey. Jordan Lawson scored 2 rushing touchdowns, while Chase Lubrandt scored on a 20-yard pass from Gavin Mensch.
Wissahickon remained unbeaten as the Trojans marched to a 41-21 victory over Interboro. Wissahickon led 21-7 after the first quarter and coasted to the win.

Hatboro Horsham remained winless as the Hatters were topped by Academy Park, 28-7. Hatboro Horsham led 7-0 after the first quarter and trailed by just 12-7 at halftime. The Hatters were outscored 16-0 in the second half.
Plymouth Whitemarsh rebounded from a tough loss to Manheim Township to rout Penn Wood, 44-0. The Colonials led 38-0 at the half. Mike Giangiulio and James Cain fueled the offense as each scored 2 touchdowns for the winners.
