PENNSBURY 3, BENSALEM 1
The Falcons scored three unanswered goals in the second half, erasing a 1-0 halftime deficit to notch the hard-earned win.
The Owls took a 1-0 lead first-half lead, thanks to a goal by Lily Lendzinski, but the Falcons evened the score when Cailyn Reilly converted a penalty stroke in the third quarter. Ryan Burdette followed with a goal, and Ava Pinto’s fourth quarter goal put the finishing touches on the win.

--On the game: “The Owls took the lead with 7:31 left in the first quarter. There was a scramble out in front of the Falcon goal where Keana Rodriguez found an open Lily Lendzinski who fired into the backboard for a 1-0 start. The score remained the same up until halftime. It was probably the best half of field hockey that we had played all year against a competitive team.
“The Owls held that lead all the way until 4:27 left in the third quarter when Pennsbury tied it at one. Unfortunately, the Falcons got another one before the quarter ended with just 16 seconds remaining. And with 10:07 left in the game Pennsbury finished another one to make the final score 3-1.
“Pennsbury's a great team and we not only held our own but took the lead into halftime today. I'm very pleased with the way our team played today, it's been a long time since we even scored against them, so to have a lead through more than half a game was something to build on.”
--Props: “Shoutout to all of the forwards that were putting pressure on the Falcons’ defense, especially in the first half. There was a great finish by sophomore Lily Lendzinski. The midfield did a great job of sealing the circle, and the defense were pressing at the halfway line forcing the ball back into the Falcons end early on. Great games today by forward Mollie Reilly, midfielders Paige Dando, Anjali Guda, Tierney Sayers, and Veronica Lennon, and defenders Lucciana Krecko and Abby Cheung. Goalkeeper Hailey Fricke continues to shine making some very important saves at some crucial times.”

The Pennsbury Falcons came into game day Monday hot off of a huge win against Unionville Friday afternoon, but as we all know in sports - big wins can sometimes be followed by big losses...emphasis on 'sometimes.’
The PHSFH coaching staff was approaching the match up against Bensalem with a message of caution to their players.
Coach Traci Curtis explained, "We know how hard Bensalem is working and the growth they have had as a program over the years. This is the strongest they have ever been, and it's intimidating. Their goalie is stellar, and their players are smart. They were going to come at us full force and take advantage of a home game, knowing that we have not played on a grass field since the last time we traveled to them a year ago.
“We could not assume anything based on our first game against them on turf (PHS won 5-0 a month ago) - this was a whole different situation,” said Curtis.
Despite earning a penalty corner in the first minute of play and possessing the ball for a majority of the first quarter, PHS found themselves struggling to get into the groove and play their game early on.
"We were passing and moving well, but it was difficult to connect, and Bensalem had strong sticks, continuously stopping our momentum," said Curtis.
Both teams were scoreless in the first quarter, and the orange and black knew they were going to be forced to work double time for every success within the game.
Curtis' prediction was spot on.
The second quarter was back and forth with a very evenly matched battle between the 25s. Bensalem was the first to connect and finish in the circle at the seven-minute mark. On a long pass from outside the circle, the blue and white got a touch, Pennsbury's goalie, Abby McCole made an initial save, but the Bensalem attacker had a quick stick rebound off of pads and deflected it to her teammate who was able to tally the goal. The Owls were once again proving their strength, power, and fight, and Pennsbury found themselves a goal behind, clawing their way out of moments all over the field. Bensalem held the 1-0 lead going into halftime.
It was a tale of two halves as Pennsbury dominated possession and opportunities in the third but was still struggling to finish and get on the scoreboard.
"We had chances with attacking penalty corners, shots on goal, and breakaways, but we just were not capitalizing on those moments," said Coach Curtis. "We knew it would be tough to get past their keeper. We needed to get more hungry, creative, and stay low in the circle."
The Falcons finally found their tying goal when a penalty stroke was awarded with four minutes left in the quarter. Junior Cailyn Reilly stepped up and nailed it into the backboard with precision and strength. But the game was far from over, and the clock kept ticking away the minutes in this tight conference contest.
With 35 seconds left in the quarter, Cailyn Reilly made a great defensive clear out wide to begin a well-executed passing series up the right side. Abby Iacona worked her magic to get the ball into the red zone and put it on cage. Bensalem's goalie misplayed the save, and PHS junior midfielder, Ryan Burdette was on the stroke to pick up the rebound and make it count. Pennsbury went up 2-1 with 16 seconds left in the third.
"I could feel us settling in finally and playing our style of hockey,” said Curtis. “It was nerve wracking to watch us fumble around the field for the first half, but once we got our feet under us, it was a much more smooth performance.”
The Falcons continued to attack in the fourth with determination. Abby Iacona earned a corner around the 10-minute mark, and PHS executed it beautifully from start to finish. After the initial shot, Ava Pinto collected the rebound off of pads and slammed it home to put the Falcons up 3-1.
"Our defense was solid once again and continued to deny the Owls any chances,” Curtis said. “Senior Abby Hicks had a defensive save and really stepped to the ball with laser focus and patience today. That coupled with us capitalizing on possessions allowed us to go up two goals and hold them to their one."
Bensalem never let down, and with two minutes left in the game they were awarded a penalty stroke - the second of the day with each team having one. The ball was put wide of the cage and Pennsbury held onto their lead until the final buzzer, taking home the win.
"Kudos to Gary (Kubik) and his staff for how far he is taking this program,” said Curtis. “His team put up quite a fight and challenged us all over the field. I'm glad we can add this to our win column and take the next step - they certainly did not make it easy. We are seeing a lot of heart and at this point in the season and that is what we need to carry us through. We need our hearts to lead the way.”
Later this week, Pennsbury will travel to Souderton for a game under the Friday Night Lights.
NESHAMINY 3, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 0
Neshaminy maintained its spot atop the division standings, winning for the seventh time in seven games in Patriot Division action.
Eve Garrison put the Redskins on the scoreboard late in the opening quarter, a goal that would turn out to be the game-winner. Neshaminy took that 1-0 lead into halftime, and in the third quarter, Ellie Miller scored a goal, and Hailey Wert’s fourth-quarter goal gave the ‘Skins their final margin of victory.

--On the win: “We played well tonight— the second half we really picked it up and had good opportunities to score. We were able to connect on passes and able to find good through balls into the circle. Eve Garrison was able to score quickly in the circle and Hailey Wert and Ellie Miller were able to score off rebounds from corners.
--Props: “Defensively we played strong, stepping to the ball well, our center players did a nice job controlling the middle and distributing the ball, and our mids and forwards did a good job working together to generate offense.
Up next: Neshaminy will host Lansdale Catholic in a non-league game Wednesday, and Council Rock North is off until Monday when the Indians will travel to Council Rock South.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, SOUDERTON 1
The Bucks moved one step closer to a division title, edging the Indians in a battle between the two rivals.
Souderton took a 1-0 lead in the first quarter when Charlotte MacNeill scored during corner play. Aida Ierubino scored the equalizer in the second quarter, and the two teams went into halftime deadlocked 1-1.
Zola Morelli broke the tie with a goal early in the fourth quarter, and Ierubino connected on her second with five seconds remaining in regulation.
The Indians were awarded seven penalty corners in the first half – zero in the second while West had three corners in the first half and 10 in the second half.

--On the game: “Tonight was an energized league game between two competitive teams. Souderton opened the scoring in the first quarter on a redirected corner shot. We knew coming into the game their corners would be dangerous and likely their best opportunity to score.
“Our Bucks rose to the challenge - staying composed, playing as a team, and gaining more momentum as the game went on. I felt the comradery of our team and love how the girls supported each other to earn this win together.”
Souderton coach Sue Casciato:
--On the game: “The game was a lot closer than the score suggests. They just are so much better at finishing than we are. Aida (Ierubino) is quick, she can shoot from a lot of different angles. She has a lot of bullets in her chamber, and a lot of different things she can do.
“If you weren’t at the game, statistically you would say – ‘Oh, it wasn’t that close.’ But they got a lot of second opportunities, and we didn’t. Their defense did a good job of denying us. We played them even from circle to circle, but they were definitely more efficient in their offensive circle than we were, and some of that is credit to their defense obviously.
“It was disappointing. The kids went into the game thinking we could win, and I went in thinking we could win. The score was never worse than 2-1 (until five seconds remained in regulation). It was a good game. We worked hard. I told the kids, ‘You’ve raised the bar. You know we can play better than we have been. Let’s see how many more games we can play at this level.’ We’ve been winning, but we’ve not been playing great hockey. It was a good team effort. This game was something to build on. I just said, ‘We have to start a new winning streak tomorrow.”
--Props: “Hannah Fuente played a position she has never played. I told her Sunday, ‘I’m going to try you at sweeper tomorrow because West is so strong up the middle, and we need your speed.’ She was like, ‘Okay,’ and she did a great job.”

--Props: Camryn Puhalla had a fantastic game in goal with 12 saves- many of which in the third quarter. The whole defense really stepped up and made some plays tonight. We had clutch offensive play tonight from Jules Zipperlen, Sydney Lafferty, Brynn Bonargo, Emerson McFeely, and Nell Zietsman. It was a hard-fought win, but now we turn our sights onto CRS tomorrow.”

The Titans celebrated their community Youth Night with a win over the visiting Knights.
Carrie Williams broke a scoreless tie when – six minutes into the second quarter – she deflected a shot by Avery Tyler into the cage to send the Titans into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
South added a pair of goals in the third quarter – the first on a penalty stroke by Kaeli VanDerSluis in the opening minute of the quarter and the second by Tyler.
North Penn got on the scoreboard when Cara Albano scored in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, but Jenna Butler got that goal back for the Titans.

--On the game: “CB South hosted our first home game under the lights as well as hosting our Youth Nite where we welcomed players from Unami, Tamanend and the DAA field hockey league. We want to thank them all for their support as the crowd helped fuel our team's energy tonight.
“The first quarter had no score. Both teams battled back and forth. Our girls kept their composure and found the back of the cage at 9:03 minutes in the second quarter when Carrie Williams tipped the ball into the goal off Avery Tyler's shot.
“North Penn is always a strong team, and we know that they were going to answer back. We were finding each other on the field and passing well. North Penn never backed down. In the third quarter at 14:34 minutes in, Kaeli VanDerSluis tried to pull around the goalie, and she was knocked over, and a penalty stroke was called. Kaeli took the penalty stroke and put it right in. A second goal in the third quarter at 1:10 mins, this time from Avery Tyler who dribbled into the circle and threw the ball into the left side corner of the cage unassisted.
“North Penn rallied in the fourth when Cara Albano scored off a Paige Shearer assist at 12:26 minutes left. In the fourth quarter, Jenna Bulter gave us our final goal with 8:28 left on the clock from Ella Marchesi beautiful pass. The girls played phenomenal tonight.”

Four quarters and an intense overtime could not determine a winner, and Abington and Upper Dublin were forced to settle for a tie.
UD jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter when Caroline Powell converted a penalty stroke. Addie Harrington scored the equalizer. The Ghosts took a 2-1 lead when Maeve Link scored in the second quarter.
That 2-1 lead held until the closing minutes of regulation when Brianna Hammill scored to send the game into overtime.

--On the game: “After a stroke was called in the first quarter against us, putting us down 1-0 at the 9:04 mark, our team was able to keep their heads up and answer on a corner at the 4:25 mark of the first quarter to tie the game. Addie Harrington was able to connect on a pass sequence from Maeve Link and Brooke Dougherty, which tied the game. It was a beautiful goal and allowed us to realize there was still a lot of hockey to be played.
“Abington's Maeve Link then connected for a goal in the second quarter, off a pass from Addie Harrington during another corner, putting us up 2-1. This score held until about two minutes left in the game, where UD came back and tied the game. Despite an offensive push from our team at the end of the fourth quarter, we went to OT.
“Each team had some great looks and opportunities in OT, and Abington even converted on a corner, but it was called back. After a very evenly matched 10 minutes, the game ended in a tie.”
--Props: “It was a great game and lots of great field hockey was played today. Both teams never let down their momentum and left everything on the field. UD's goalie made some key saves, and our goalie, Keely Gallagher, made seven saves to help us preserve the tie.
“I was really proud of the girls today. Everyone stepped up and played their hearts out. Our team has been working hard to improve some things at practice and that was evident in our play today.”

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 6, WISSAHICKON 1
It was the story of two halves.
For one half, Wissahickon’s defense stymied the Colonials’ attack, and the two teams went into halftime deadlocked 1-1 with the Trojans’ Layla Keller and PW’s Emily Dobrowolski exchanging second-quarter goals.
The second half was all PW.
Gracie Kerns – who had a hand in all five second-half goals - scored the go-ahead goal just over a minute into the third quarter. It was her first of four goals in the half. She scored two goals in the third quarter and two more in the fourth. Bridget Fullerton also scored a fourth quarter goal with a Kerns assist.
“Wiss played much more aggressive and physical defense today, and it just took us awhile to find the back of the net,” PW coach Charise Halteman said. “We talked at halftime about giving the open pass sooner, keeping the ball tight to our sticks, and staying composed. The team trusted the game plan and persevered and once we got going, we played with confidence.”

Plymouth Whitemarsh coach Charise Halteman: "PW and Wissahickon played a closely contested first half entering halftime with a 1-1 score. Despite numerous attacking opportunities, the Wissahickon defense held strong and played aggressively in the first half. Wissahickon would score the first goal of the game at the 10:33 mark of the second quarter. PW kept applying pressure and Emily Dobrowolski found the back corner of the net a few minutes later at 7:44. The first few minutes of the second half saw back and forth action at each end of the field, but PW's Gracie Kerns found the back of the net with a reverse shot from the left side of the circle into the right side net at the 13:44 mark. Just over a minute later (12:28), Kerns would score again after a Wissahickon defender tipped her shot into the cage. Kerns would then assist Bridget Fullerton who scored an easy goal in front of the net at the 12:58 mark of the fourth quarter. Kerns would score the last two goals of the game at the 10:34 and 8:40 mark. PW had 29 shots on cage and 13 attack corners to Wissahickon's 5 shots and 1 attacking corner."
Wissahickon coach Hannah Havrilla: “I am really excited about the progress we have made so far this season. We started off strong today and were able to put one in the back of the net first, which shows the growth and momentum we have been building. While the outcome was a tough one, especially since we were unable to finish more opportunities in the third and fourth quarters, there were a lot of positives to take away.”
--Props: “I am really proud of our senior goalkeeper, Ava Fell, who made 16 outstanding saves and kept us in the match. A big shoutout as well to our captain, Regan Szczepkowicz, who has been consistent all season and stayed composed in the circle, earning key fouls to help us regain possession. Other highlights include the hustle and second effort shown by Sam Farno, as well as the versatility of Layla Keller, who stepped into multiple positions, played aggressively, and was able to score our lone goal of the day.”

QUAKERTOWN 5, HATBORO-HORSHAM 2
Emma Stalletti had herself quite a game, contributing to all five goals and leading the Panthers to the division win. The senior connected on a hat trick and also assisted on two goals.
Stalletti turned a Casey Rosenberger pass into the game’s first goal and a 1-0 Panther lead after one quarter. Cassidy Landis set up Stalletti’s second goal four minutes into the second quarter, but the Hatters erased that 2-0 lead with back-to-back goals by Annabella Deacon and Mia Fisher to send the two teams into halftime deadlocked.
The second half belonged to the Panthers, who received third period goals from Casey Rosenberger and Paige Longacre to go on top 4-2. In the fourth quarter, Stelletti completed her hat trick with a Longacre assist.

--On the game: “Emma Stalletti was unstoppable tonight, scoring three goals and adding two assists to lead us to a 5–2 victory over Hatboro Horsham. Emma’s speed and magnetic stickwork created constant pressure and put her in great positions to set up her teammates. We had a balanced attack with Casey Rosenberger and Paige Longacre each tallying a goal and an assist, while Cassidy Landis chipped in with a key assist.
--Props: “In the midfield, Cadence Jozefowski once again proved her consistency, never letting us down and providing steady play that kept our team connected on both ends of the field.
“On the defensive end, Cameron Landis stood tall as our anchor, making smart plays to shut down Hatboro’s offense. In goal, Darcey Baxter had an outstanding performance, finishing with 11 saves to keep us in control. Even while missing a few players due to injury, the team stepped up and showed togetherness. Our goal is to finish the season strong and keep building positive momentum going forward.”
Up next: Quakertown is off until Monday when the Panthers will travel to Upper Dublin, and Hatboro-Horsham will host Lower Moreland for its Senior Night on Tuesday (7pm).

Olivia Fey broke a scoreless tie with a third-quarter goal assisted by Roya Rosala. It was her first varsity goal and stood as the game-winner.
Cara Torgan’s goal with an Emma O’Connell assist in the third quarter gave LM a 2-0 lead. The Lions doubled their advantage in the fourth quarter with goals by Mary Skaziak and Alexis MacPhee with MacPhee’s coming during corner play.
Springfield Twp goalie Grace Bell was credited with 22 saves.

--On the game: “Lower Moreland needed a timeout called by senior captain Roya Rosala late in the second quarter to pause and re-evaluate our game play. LM responded to her leadership and went to work.
“Our goal was to score or to draw a corner in the first two minutes of the third quarter. Check! We scored two in under three minutes. The team agreed that we needed this first half to give us a check in. Our biggest take away was leadership, buying into the plan and staying the course. What a wonderful outing for the Lions.”
Springfield Twp coach Brianna Buckley: “Springfield Township battled hard in a tough matchup against Lower Moreland, ultimately falling 0-4. While the final result didn’t go their way, the Spartans showed determination and grit, creating several offensive opportunities throughout the game. Springfield pushed forward consistently, especially in the second half, but couldn’t quite capitalize to find the back of the cage. The team’s relentless effort and pressure reflected their growth and fight as they look to bounce back in their next contest.”

Olivia Conte scored two goals and assisted on two others to lead the Lions to the decisive win.
Conte wasn’t the only player to come up big for the Lions. Abby Varghese added two goals and one assist while Gabi Solis and Brianna McBride each had a goal and an assist.
Just over six minutes into the game, Solis turned a Conte pass into the first goal that turned out to be the game-winner. The Lions led 3-0 after one quarter and took a 5-0 lead into halftime. Varghese scored the lone goal of the second half.

Upper Moreland coach Pam Remmey: “The first half was rough for the Bears. New Hope took advantage of their penalty corners, and UM was tentative in the circle. We're not proud of the first half score, but the team is proud that we were resilient and never let down in the second half.
“The defense rebounded in the second half to only allow one goal with goalie Tierney Hogan recording 20 saves in the second half. Tierney has been playing SO awesome all season, but on corners today, NHS was more aggressive in the circle and got too many open shots on goal. She finished with 32 saves.
“Upper Moreland came back in the second half and played much better. The defense started clicking, and Abby Kelly had an amazing defensive save on an aerial ball to the top of the cage.”
Up next: New Hope-Solebury will host Plumstead Christian School in a non-league game Friday, and Upper Moreland will host William Tennent Tuesday (7pm).
