It’s always an intense battle when the neighboring rivals meet, and their most recent meeting was no exception.
In Tuesday’s SOL opener, it was CR South edging CR North
Neither team scored in the opening half. In the third quarter, Sarah Lubaczewski scored an unassisted goal to get the Hawks on the board. With less than two minutes remaining in the third
quarter, Jenna Evangelist put a goal in the back of the cage with an assist from Mia Schink. In the fourth quarter, CR North’s Sophia Pinto scored to make it a 2-1 game.

--The game: “Council Rock North is always a fun game to play. They are a great group of players. I am really proud of the way CR South played today. We really started to connect and put goals away.”
--Props: “Reese Berkis did an awesome job in goal today and was a backbone for our defense. Sarah Lubaczewski and Macy Schmidt did a great job connecting us up the field and giving us momentum to go forward.”

SOL Colonial Division
SOUDERTON 4, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1
Caylee DeSimone made sure the Indians opened SOL play on a high note, connecting for a hat trick to lead the way in a 4-1 win. The senior also had an assist.
It was the Patriots getting on the scoreboard first when – two minutes into the second quarter – Reese Berkowitz found the back of the cage. Souderton’s Brooke Wagner turned a pass from DeSimone during corner play into the equalizer, knotting the score 1-1 at halftime.
The second half belonged to the Indians or – more specifically – DeSimone, who broke the 1-1 tie with the go-ahead goal assisted by Autumn Wagner two minutes into the third quarter.
DeSimone blew the tightly contested game open with back-to-back goals less than three minutes apart to give the Indians their final margin of victory.

Carly Lehman – who has scored in all three of the Trojans’ games - turned a pass from Manika Ishi into a goal just over a minute into Tuesday’s SOL opener. That 1-0 lead stood until the third quarter when the Trojans added a pair of goals – one each from Ishi (assisted by Layla Keller) and the other by Keller.
In the fourth quarter, Addy Arnott and Abby Smith (Samantha Farno assist) both added goals for the 5-0 final.

--The game: “We started off a little slower in the first half compared to the second half. In the first quarter, we were able to put one in the back of the net early, but Abington definitely gained some momentum, and we were unable to execute the way we wanted to in the second quarter. The girls really picked it up in the third and fourth quarters and were able to put away two goals in each quarter. I am proud of how we finished the game, but we need to continue to work on setting the tone from the start and playing our style of hockey. This means quick free hits, being relentless in our attacking circle, and using give-and-goes to work our way up the field.”
--Props: “I would like to recognize Manika Ishi for putting a goal and an assist on the board today. We lost her in the second half due to an injury, but when she was in, she was relentless and fearless and worked really well with our other forwards. I also want to shoutout Carly Lehman and Layla Keller. Carly was able to tally another goal today, improving her stats and scoring in every game so far this year. You can see how much she wants it, and she had some amazing shots on cage today that unfortunately were stopped. Layla really dominated offensively today, putting away a goal and one assist. She has really stepped up in her leadership role and has become more attacking in our circle. She will continue to progress as the season moves on.
"Finally, I want to recognize Addison Arnott, who scored her first varsity goal today! She is another one of those players who has really come a long way since her freshman year. She has a great stick for aerials and hits and has great defensive positioning. She will be another threat for us this season.
“I also want to give props to the Abington goalie. She made some great initial saves on the many shots we put on cage today. She was relentless, strong, and continued to battle throughout the game. She definitely kept Abington in the game and made us work for our goals.””

QUAKERTOWN 7, UPPER DUBLIN 1
Zoe Smith had herself a day, completing her hat trick in the opening minute of the second quarter and leading the Panthers to their third convincing win in as many games.
Smith put the Panthers on the board midway through the opening quarter, using a Paige Longacre assist. She added a second in the final minute of the quarter with a Sunny Draper assist and then scored 30 seconds into the second quarter, this time with a Mya Pallone assist.
Draper, Ella Metz and Kylie Davis each scored a goal in the second quarter, sending the Panthers into halftime with a 6-0 advantage. For Metz and Davis, it was their first goals of the season while Draper connected on her eighth.
Upper Dublin’s Caitlin Diehl scored the lone goal of the third quarter while Paige Longacre closed out the scoring for Quakertown with a goal in the final quarter.

--The game: “Huge credit to Quakertown for their efficiency and strength in passing. They set a high intensity standard from the start of the game. In the second half, we were able to regroup to focus on the fundamentals and connect some really nice passing patterns. Big shoutout to Caitlin Diehl who scored our first goal of the season and to our defense for limiting a strong offense to seven corners.”

NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 6, LOWER MORELAND 1
Gabi Solis scored four goals and assisted on another to lead the host Lions to the win in Tuesday’s SOL opener.
Solis scored her first goal with a Teresa Valliyil assist six minutes into the game, but the Lions hung tough, knotting the score after a goal by Mollie Martin (Maci London assist). Solis broke the tie with an unassisted goal, sending NH-S into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
In the third quarter, the Lions put some distance between themselves and their visitors, scoring a pair of goals – one each by Solis and Teresa Valliyil.
Solis (Brianna McBride assist) and Rebecca Valilyil each added a goal in the fourth quarter.

Emily Rutkowski and Ava Szatala scored two goals each to lead the Spartans. Four additional players added one goal each.
The Spartans, who led 2-0 after one quarter, took a 5-0 lead into halftime on their way to the win in Tuesday’s season opener.
