Quakertown 5, Central Bucks East 1
In a season opener that won’t soon be forgotten by the Panthers, they earned sweet revenge for a 2-1 loss in last year’s season opener.
“Our team came into the match with something to prove,” Quakertown coach Peach Draper said. “Driven by our mantra, THE Standard, our girls didn't just meet expectations, they set the bar for the entire season ahead.”
East opened the scoring for the second consecutive game, but Quakertown responded with five unanswered goals to earn a 5-1 nonleague victory.
Brynn Bonargo put the Patriots in front in the first quarter off an assist from Sam Lafferty. Quakertown’s Sunny Draper answered later in the quarter to tie the game, then scored twice more to complete a hat trick and help the Panthers pull away.

--The game: “CB East came out pressing hard early, striking first at the 7:27 mark of the first quarter when standout player and Wagner commit Brynn Bonargo converted on a direct corner shot. Down 0-1, our response was instantaneous. Refusing to yield an inch of momentum, our attack pushed straight back down the field. With just 3:36 left in the opening quarter, Sunny Draper 
answered with a rocket from the top of the circle, driving a direct shot straight into the left corner of the cage to tie it up 1-1.
“With our preseason work ready to pay off, the second quarter belonged entirely to our offense. Draper stayed hot, putting our team ahead with another stunning direct shot. Shortly after, Wagner commit Paige Longacre unleashed a laser of her own off a crisp assist from standout midfielder Cassidy Landis, sending us into halftime with a commanding 3-1 lead.
“The pressure didn't lift in the second half. Early in the third quarter, Longacre fired another powerful shot toward the cage, where sophomore Mya Pallone tipped it in. The final exclamation point came near the end of the third when Landis teamed up with Draper once more, executing a gorgeous give-and-go to Draper. Darcy Baxter was outstanding in goal and had 9 saves.
“A decisive 5-1 victory over a tough CB East set the tone for what promises to be a very special year.”

—The game: “I was proud of us for opening up the scoring for the second game in a row. We obviously need to work on consistency throughout the quarters, but it’s good lessons to be learned early in the season. We’re ready to open up league play next week.”
Up next: Quakertown will host Phoenixville in a non-league game Monday (7pm). Central Bucks East will open league play next week when the Patriots host North Penn on Thursday.

Owen J. Roberts 7, North Penn 2
North Penn and Owen J. Roberts played an even first half, but the Wildcats took control after halftime, scoring five third-quarter goals on the way to a 7-2 victory over the Knights.
Cissy Lewis gave North Penn an early lead with a first-quarter goal before OJR’s Charleigh Loughlin tied the game in the second quarter. Estelle Donald then powered the Wildcats’ second-half surge, scoring three times in the third quarter and adding another in the fourth to finish with four goals.

Boyertown 3, Plymouth Whitemarsh 2
Plymouth Whitemarsh battled back from a two-goal halftime deficit and put pressure on Boyertown until the closing minutes before falling 3-2 in its season opener.
Boyertown scored twice in the second quarter to take a 2-0 lead into halftime, but the Colonials cut the deficit in half early in the fourth quarter when Kayleigh Boland finished in front of the goalkeeper off an assist from Sophie Kerns. After Boyertown restored its two-goal advantage, Gracie Kerns scored with 3:46 remaining to pull PW within one.
“Overall, we have a lot to build on and a lot to learn from after game one,” PW coach Charise Halteman said.

—The game: “We played an exciting game against Boyertown to open our season. We had some early scoring opportunities that we couldn't convert, and Boyertown was able to score two goals in the second quarter to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.”
—Fourth-quarter rally: “PW got on the board in the fourth quarter after Kayleigh Boland was able to finish a play in front of the goalkeeper with an assist from Sophie Kerns. Boyertown added their third goal at the 7:29 mark and PW responded at the 3:46 mark when Gracie Kerns was able to send a reverse shot past the goalkeeper. PW continued to put pressure on Boyertown in the closing minutes of the game.
