Sami Awadalla forced a penalty kick and then converted the PK into a goal in the 32nd minute. That would be all the scoring the Falcons would need in Thursday’s non-league win.
Playing a key role in the win was keeper James Purdum, who finished with a clean sheet.

The host Indians took a 1-0 lead early in the second half, but the Prep answered with back-to-back goals to eke out the win in a non-league game in Thursday’s sweltering heat.

Council Rock North assistant coach Brian Hoffman:
--The game: “The goals they scored today were our mistakes more than they were their goals. They’re well coached, they’re organized, and they’re a very physical team, but again, we helped them do what they do.
“We scored first. It was a bit of a melee. I think it was actually an own goal, but Will Louden hit it into the middle. Jason Folk got a piece of it, and it got tipped off of one of their guys and got in the back of the net.
“It was the ungodly hottest day of soccer, especially playing at three o’clock in the afternoon because Council Rock South had a football game after us, so our game time was pushed early. I thought we played pretty tough.”
--Props: “We had Wolfgang Lake in goal, and I thought he played a very good game. The two goals that were scored against him were when our play left him out high and dry.
“Will Louden covered ground in the center mid very, very well.”

A goal by Stephen Murray sent the Golden Hawks into halftime with a 1-0 lead in Tuesday’s non-league game, but the second half belonged to the host Vikings, who scored a pair of unanswered goals to earn the 2-1 win.

--The game: “It was a tough day today. As a team, I think there were a lot of moment we would like back. It’s still early goings, but we would have liked to have been sharper today.
“We scored in the first half Stephen Murray crossed it into the box, and it hit off the goalie and went in.
“We did hit crossbars and had some chances, but we can be better. We’re back at it Friday, which is a good thing. I think there were lessons to learn today. I look forward to seeing how we respond.”
--A word of thanks: “Big thanks to Coach Hugh (Kelly) at Wood for making moves to get the game in after the storm and to Rob Oldfield and Scott Reiber at VE (Club) for getting us on their turf field. Their new facility is incredible.”

SPRINGFIELD TWP 8, CALVARY CHRISTIAN 0
Six players combined to score eight goals in a non-league contest that saw the host Spartans race out of the gate to a 5-0 halftime lead on their way to the convincing win.
Contributing goals were Karter Brady, Ava Brnich, June Kirk, Karly Hartman, Nora Manchester and Bea Lyons.
“It was a complete team effort with everyone stepping up and playing great soccer,” Spartans’ coach Chris Tomarelli said. “Credit to Calvary for battling hard and competing until the final whistle.”

NESHAMINY 2, CONWELL-EGAN 2
Neshaminy opened up a 2-0 halftime advantage in Wednesday’s non-league road game, but just as quickly as they’d gotten that lead, they lost it.
Conwell-Egan connected on a pair of second-half goals, forcing the Redskins to settle for a 2-2 tie, their second 2-2 tie in as many days.

--The game: “First half of the game started well - we had chances and were able to convert on two near the end of the first half. Grace Miraski got to the end line and found Chloe who knocked it in. Then a few minutes later, we win a free kick outside the corner of the box. I was expecting Anna to hit the ball, but she laid the ball off to Lily who struck the ball instead from a little better angle and got a second one past the keeper.
“But Egan was making things very hard. Beginning of the second half, we couldn’t seem to find the right pass or run. And shots that we were taking - Egan’s keeper did a great job to keep out. She made some very good saves. And we made some mistakes and gave them an opening to fight their way back into the game.
“Minimizing the opportunities that you allow and capitalizing on your opportunities is the difference between winning a losing. Today and yesterday, they resulted in ties. We have some work to do before we finish with the first round of league games.”
Up next: Neshaminy will host Bensalem on Tuesday.
