COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 10, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (6 innings)
Ben Hinderberger turned in yet another dominant outing on the mound.
The sophomore right-hander did not allow a hit in the six-inning mercy rule win, striking out 10 and walking two. He hit two batters.
The Indians scored a run in the bottom of the first when Ryan Bukowski ripped a one-out triple and then scored on Kyle Book’s sac fly.
Ethan Ferrara’s three-hit effort led Rock North’s 15-hit attack that saw seven Indians finish with multiple hits.
“Good pitching, solid defense and timely hitting has been the recipe thus far,” Rock North coach Matt Schram said. “Proud of the guys.”
Council Rock North is 18th in the latest District 1 6A standings while Rock South is 26th with two games remaining.

Key inning: Bottom of third – Ethan Ferrara led off the inning with a single, and one out later, Preston Martin singled. With two outs, Kyle Book lined a double to center field that plated a pair of runs, and after a walk to Noah Furhman, Jude Hamilton singled home the third run that put the Indians on top 4-0.

--Props: “Ben Hinderberger is getting better and better each outing. He was efficient, on point, didn’t waste pitches and was in control start to finish. To be able to hold a team like South to no hits in an incredibly huge game speaks to hard work and his maturity.
“Ethan Ferrara has quietly turned into one of our top senior hitters, and he was a utility guy early in the season.”

CHELTENHAM 4, WILLIAM TENNENT 0 (8 innings)
For seven innings, it was a classic pitchers’ duel between Cheltenham’s Eamon Ivory and a pair of Tennent pitchers. Ivory allowed just two hits and fanned nine in seven strong innings. He was lifted for Emile Chanoine when he reached his pitch count.
Mike Woehr threw five shutout innings for the Panthers.
In the eighth inning, the Panthers broke through for four runs and then held off the Panthers, who loaded the bases with two outs. Chanoine slammed the door on the potential rally with a strikeout.

Key inning: Top of eighth – Nate Leary lined a single to left to open the inning, and Jack Haugen was safe on an error. Both runners advanced on a passed ball, and Finn Kopp’s sac fly plated the game’s first run. The second run of the inning scored on a Tennent miscue, and Sean Trainor’s RBI single made it a 3-0 game. Billy Fishman singled, and with two outs, the fourth run of the inning scored on a wild pitch.
Up next: Cheltenham will host Tennent in the third game of the series Tuesday.

SOL non-league crossover
Souderton 5, Quakertown 4
The Indians celebrated Senior Night with – appropriately – a one-run win. It was their ninth one-run game of the season, their sixth win in those nail biters.
“Tonight was senior night and it was a great way to end our regular season,” Souderton coach Mike Childs said. “It is always nice to get a win, but the priority was celebrating our seniors. My favorite part is watching the whole team support our all-senior lineup especially the players that do not usually get a chance to start.”
Neither team did a whole lot of hitting, and the two teams were deadlocked 3-3 heading into the fifth. The Indians scored a run in the fifth when Jasiah Stachelek, who singled, scored on Trent Lutz’s one-out double. They added another run in the sixth without the benefit of a hit and needed every one of those runs as the Panthers plated a run in the seventh – also without a hit - for the 5-4 final.
Charlie Hunsicker notched the win with a scoreless sixth, and Johnny Byrwa earned the save.

Key inning: Bottom of first – The Indians answered the Panthers’ two-run first inning with two runs of their own. Charlie Hunsicker led off the inning and was safe on an error. He advanced to second on a passed ball, and one out later, Evan Divens singled. Colesen Hoffman followed with an RBI single. Johnny Byrwa singled, and the bases were loaded when Patrick Wendell drew a base on balls. A walk to Jake Radcliff forced home the second run of the inning.

Talk about the perfect way to celebrate Senior Day. This was it.
Austin Allen made sure of that.
In a dazzling five-inning outing in his final high school contest, the St. Bonaventure-bound southpaw allowed just one hit and recorded 13 of 15 outs by strikeouts.
“Austin Allen was unbelievable today,” Truman coach Brian Sinkiewicz said. “He threw one pitch in the sixth to one of our seniors. He was the guy who always caught Austin, and he is our third baseman.
“I went out to the mound to get him with his brother, who played for me my first year and is now our JV coach. Austin got a standing ovation when he left the game. All of his family was standing by the dugout. It was a really cool moment.”
And what made Allen so effective?
“I think he just had fun today,” Sinkiewicz said. “You could tell he was just loose. I think towards the end of the year he became a lot more confident in who he is as a pitcher, and I’m really excited to see what he does at St. Bonaventure next year. He was letting it rip today. His velocity was up, and like the pitcher from Hatboro – (Colton) Ellis was unbelievable too. It was 0-0 in the sixth inning and both pitchers were just dealing.”
Fellow seniors Lawson Pearce, Nate Long and Chase Hensman closed it out.
“I guarantee you if I had left Austin in he would have struck out every single kid, but he wanted the other seniors get an opportunity to pitch because he’s one of the most selfless kids you’ll ever meet,” Sinkiewicz said. “He’s just an amazing person. He wanted everybody to get their opportunity. He’s been playing baseball with this group of kids for a long time, and I am so happy for them that they were able to get a win to end their high school career.”
Monday’s game was originally scheduled to be played at the Trenton Thunder’s ballpark, but the field was unavailable due to the new sod on the field.
“We pivoted and we had a little family thing at our place,” Sinkiewicz said. “Truman also does a shirt-off-the-back and they give a shirt to a teacher in Bristol Township that made an impact on their life, so we had all of those teachers come out.
“We had eight seniors, and I played all of our seniors the entire game. It was a great way to send our seniors off.”
Truman scored all of its runs in the sixth inning – all four runs were unearned.

Key inning: Bottom of sixth – Truman managed just one hit – a two-run single by Lawson Pearce – but benefitted from three walks, a hit batter and an error in the inning.

--A perfect Senior Day: “I think all of our seniors really went into today where they just wanted to have fun, and I know that sounds so cliché, but you could tell our kids had fun today. It was a really family-oriented day, and the parents were so happy. They were like, - ‘This is better than Trenton Thunder.’ I thought it was so cool. It was a great day.”
--Tip of the hat to the Hatters: “Hatboro-Horsham was great. We never played that program, and they were so respectful. They stood out during our senior stuff, and I told their coach, ‘You guys are awesome.’ I really appreciated it because we did a lot of stuff. It was a really fun day, and it was a great way to end the season and send the seniors off the right way.”

PENNSBURY 7, PENNRIDGE 6
The Falcons celebrated Senior Night at a different venue – Mercer County Park in West Windsor – since Trenton Thunder’s park was unavailable. That could not detract from a night that featured a whole lot of contributions from seniors in a hard-fought win in an SOL crossover non-league game that pitted the District 1 6A’s third ranked team (Pennsbury) against the fourth ranked team (Pennridge).
“It was an awesome Senior Night,” Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci said. “The parents did a great job. There were a lot of fans, a lot of young kids, a lot of alumni at the game. The seniors got a lot of time. It was a great night.”
The Falcons – who had a four-run third - opened up a 7-0 lead in the fourth when Pierce Perry, who drew a two-out walk, scored on Brendan Zuckerman’s double.
Pennsbury withstood a six-run inning from the Rams, holding on for the win.
“Pennridge is a really good team,” Pesci said. “They did to us what we’ve been doing to teams where we score in bunches, so it was great for us to get up like that. I think the value of our team – our pitching carried us last year, and we knew we only had to hit a little bit. This year our pitching knows they can make mistakes because we’re going to hit.”

Key inning: Bottom of third – The Falcons, who had a 2-0 lead, put four runs on the board. Back-to-back walks to Carlton Crane and Pierce Perry set the stage for the big inning. Perry stole second and scored on a passed ball. With one out, Nolan Kolanko walked and stole second. Perry scored on a single by Mike Sogness, and Danny Seidler’s sac fly played another run. An error allowed the fourth run to cross the plate.
Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci:
--The game: “Keller Bradley threw three clean innings. He had walks, but he got out of them. Connor O’Brien had a really good inning in the fourth, and then Colin Boraski came in. They put the ball in play, and they scored six runs. We’ve done that to pretty much every team all year, and honestly, I think the score was closer than the game was, in my opinion. After that inning when Boraski got hit a little bit, he came out and shut them down for two innings, and that was huge. He’s a senior, and he’s been getting some time in relief here and there.
“We only went with three guys today. Normally, when you play at a Trenton Thunder, we play everybody. We wanted to stick with the seniors as long as we could today. Nolan Kalanko is a first baseman who’s a senior who was our starter at the beginning of the year. Then he got hurt and was out for the Bensalem and Truman series, and he just wasn’t able to get back in. He drove the ball twice today. Shane Robinson is a senior catcher who has barely played all year. He didn’t get a hit, but he crushed the ball twice, and Will Curtin is another senior who got a start today and got a hit and got on base, so it was nice to see kids who aren’t the heroes or don’t get a lot of time – it was really cool to see those three guys come in and give us really good barrels, which is promising for when we have a playoff run.
“Carlton Crane and Pierce Perry -all those guys – Zuckerman had another double. Those guys going to continue to be those guys, but it was really cool. Mike Sogness played well today, but seeing those guys that aren’t the ones in the box score all the time go in, and they had really good games. It’s kind of like the offensive lineman that doesn’t give up a sack type of thing. Those guys had great games, and it was against Pennridge, the number four team in the district. We were able to score seven runs in the first three innings off their guy so it felt good to do that.”
Up next: Pennsbury will await its final seed while Pennridge will travel to Quakertown for an SOL non-league crossover game Tuesday (7pm).

The Trojans managed only two singles in Monday’s non-league game against the visiting Patriots – a leadoff single by Giulio Carbo in the second and a two-out single by Max Joseph in the fifth.
A duo of GA hurlers combined in the shutout win, striking out nine and walking none. Wiss was returned in order in five of the seven innings.
Up next: Wissahickon will host Springfield Twp Tuesday in an SOL non-league crossover game.
