SOL Colonial Division
Central Bucks East 2, North Penn 1
A pitchers’ duel came down to the seventh inning, and there, host CB East walked off with the victory as Finn Gale came up with the big hit, driving home the winning run with one out.
The Patriots also had a big day from its pitchers, as starter Jason Abert allowed just one runs over 
six innings. Mason Hill pitched a scoreless seventh and earned the win in relief.
“I am looking at the numbers right now,” said Patriots coach Kyle Dennis. “There were 21 strikeouts in the game across both teams. Just a really well-pitched game on both sides. Brighton Fontaine is very good. He got 10 Ks over his six and a third. Jason Abert, our guy, got 10 over his six, and then Mason had one.
“So, really, it was a windy day. There weren't a lot of hits to be had. Seven total, and we had a couple of them just in the last inning. … A lot of small ball being played by both teams, and we're fortunate to come out on the right end of it.”
CB East was playing with a heavy heart following the death of junior varsity player and classmate Sam Hanson over the weekend.
“This meant a lot to our guys,” Dennis said. “To have them come together and compete and all those sorts of things, it was a great thing for them.
“Our guys got together yesterday for a practice, so we as a team kind of tried to grieve together a little bit, and today was a special day for a lot of reasons. Just us guys being together and to cap it off with a win on top of a really, really great high school baseball game on both sides. It was kind 
of special.”

Key Inning: Bottom of the 7th- Tied at 1, Jason Abert doubled to lead off the inning, Dustin Weber was intentionally walked with one out, Chris Funicella singled to load the base and Finn Gale singled to center to plate the winning run.
CB East coach Kyle Dennis:
“(Abert) has been very good in his non-league outings that he's had this season. And he's been great. I can't say enough positive things about what he's doing. But just to see the growth of him from his sophomore year, being our closer, then transitioning into a starting role last year and to watch him develop into a staff ace has been really cool. He just works really hard.”
–Taking Game 1: “I'll be honest, I think Game 1 is just as important as Game 2 and just as important as Game 3. I will say in Game 1, you are getting your best versus their best on the mound. It's always great to win that one. You enjoy it for an evening. And tomorrow, you are facing their number two with your number two, and we just kind of have to figure it out.”

Souderton 1, Pennridge 0
Trent Lutz dominated on the mound as Souderton manufactured a run in the fourth and did just enough to edge Pennridge 1-0 for a road win in the first game of the series between the teams this week.
Lutz pitched a complete-game one-hitter with 15 strikeouts, including whiffing the side in the seventh inning to close the game out.
Pennridge starter Ryder Olson – committed to play at Coastal Carolina - allowed one earned run over four innings, while reliever Anthony Cox pitched three shutout innings.
“We entered today’s matchup having the feeling it was going to be a classic pitchers’ duel with two of the top pitchers in the area,” said Souderton coach Mike Childs. “The score definitely showed that, and we are pleased we were on the winning end of it.
“Trent was dominant on the mound. He is a player who sets his standards high. After the game I told him great job and he replied, ‘One less hit would have been better,’ making it a no-hitter. He is a hard worker and always striving to get better.”

Key Inning: Top of the 4th- Evan Divens led off the inning with a double and then went to third on an error. The next batter, Brett Pollock hit an infield single and Divens beat the throw to the plate to score the only run of the game.”
Souderton coach Mike Childs:
“Evan has been leading us at the plate so far this season, and he sparked us again in the fourth with a double. He had a great jump from third on Pollock’s hit to short and made a great slide at home to score the lone run.”

Central Bucks West 4, Central Bucks South 3
CB West jumped out early and then held on late to edge rival CB South on the road by a 4-3 final on Tuesday in the first of three games between the teams this week.
Tied at 1 after one, the Bucks scored one in the second and two in the third to go up 4-1. CB South made it close with a run in the fifth, but could get no closer against West relief pitcher Jack Hogenauer in the sixth and seventh innings.
Key Players: CBW- Stephen Verdolini (WP, 4 ⅔ IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 5 K), Jack Hogenauer (Save, 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 B, 3 K; 2-for-3, double, 1 RBI), Kellen O’Connor (double, 1 RBI); CBS-Sean Bulicki (1 RBI), James Schaefer (1 RBI) .
Key Inning: Top of the 3rd-Up 2-1, CB West took advantage of back-to-back errors to plate a run, and added another on sac fly by O’Connor.

SOL Patriot Division
Pennsbury 23, Harry S Truman 0 (3 innings)
Seventeen runs in one inning isn’t exactly an everyday occurrence, but for Pennsbury on Tuesday, everything seemed to go its way. The Falcons jumped all over the visiting Tigers in the bottom of the first on the way to a 23-0 drubbing in a three-inning, mercy-rule shortened Patriot Division 
battle.
In all, 23 batters came to the plate for Pennsbury, there were 14 hits, three hit batters and three errors in the inning.
Key Players: P- Carlton Crane (3-for-3, 3 RBIs, 2 runs), Pierce Perry (2-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Brendan Zuckerman (2-for-2, double, triple, 3 RBIs, 2 runs), Keller Bradley (WP, 3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 Ks).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 1st - With one out, 10 straight batters reached base. Brendan Zuckerman had an RBI triple and a two-run double in the inning. Michael Sogness hit a two-run home run.
Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci:
“They threw strikes. They, honestly, didn't walk anybody until late. I mean, I hate to say late in the game, but we scored seventeen runs in the first inning. And it was a combination of us putting the ball in play, some windy conditions. So, there were some deep balls to center field that their center fielder kind of coasted on, that just kept carrying.
“Then there were some blooper pop ups that they, maybe, they overran or just kind of blew out of their range. It was so tricky. Crane and Perry had line drive or ground ball hits, and Mike Sogness had a home run. So, there were definitely hits, but I do think it kind of just compounded on them a little bit.
“One through five batted three times in the first inning. You know, so it's just tough. And even at that point, then it's the first inning, so I didn't want to make subs. So after that first inning, we let them play defense, and then in the second inning, we made substitutions and were able to change the whole lineup over. So, we got 18 hitters in the game.”
–On the mound: “(Keller) Bradley goes out there and throws eight pitches and then sat for 42 minutes. So, it’s hard, because Keller is your starting pitcher for the week, your ace, and sometimes you are looking at, like, do you pull him after that inning and then bring him back again another day. But really, we want to keep him first, the first pitcher of the week. Plus, there’s a bunch of scouts there, and it's hard because you don't want to pull him. But you end up going out and throwing like I think 40 pitches in the three innings, so it's just a tricky day.”

Neshaminy 12, Bensalem 0 (5 innings)
Jared Kligerman allowed just three hits and did not walk a batter in five shutout innings, and he got plenty of run support along the way, as Neshaminy blanked Bensalem 12-0 in a mercy-rule shortened game to open the league scheduled for both squads.
Neshaminy scored 12 runs on 10 hits, and took advantage of six walks and four errors.
Key Players: N-Jared Kligerman (WP, 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K), Chase Bonner (3-for-4, 4 RBIs), Mike Sassano (2-for-2, 1 RBI, 4 runs), Sam Hitchen (2-for-3, double, 3 RBIs).
Key Inning: Top of the 2nd- Up 1-0 entering the inning, Neshaminy scored four times to break the game wide open. After an error and a walk, Sam Hitchen and Sassano had back-to-back RBI singles, and two batters later Chase Bonner drove in a pair with a single to center to up the lead to 5-0.
Neshaminy coach Dan Toner:
“We were eager to start our league games this week. We had an up and down start to the season with our non-league games, but we were able to get back on track today.”
–Offensively: “I was very happy to see the team hit a lot of hard line drives throughout the game. We were hitting the ball up in the air the past two games and not giving ourselves a chance to get anything going. The guys in the lineup made the adjustments and were able to find success.”
–On the mound: “Jared Kligerman had a very efficient game today. He was able to get ahead of hitters and throw multiple pitches for strikes. He didn’t allow a runner to get to second base today.”

SOL Freedom Division
Cheltenham 8, Springfield Twp 7
A back-and-forth affair saw Cheltenham shake off a rough top of the first to tie it up, and then added two in the third and four in the fifth to go up 8-3.
But Springfield answered with four runs in the top of the seventh, and nearly pulled off the comeback, before Cheltenham reliever Sean Trainer was able to shake off a pair of walks and a pair of errors in the field to get the final out on a caught stealing to finish off the 8-7 victory in the first of three between these two teams.
“It was a crazy game, and went back-and-forth the whole time,” said Panthers coach Lukas Nakkula. “The end of the game got tough, but it was great to pull out the win.
“Overall, was a tough and competitive win, which was great for the guys.”
Key Players: C-Finn Kopp (5 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K), Nate Batiancila (1-for-3, 3 RBIs), Tim Dugan (1-for-2, 2 RBIs); S- Jake Gibson (3-for-4, 1 double, 1 RBI), Matthew Sokel (2-for-4, 3 RBIs).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 5th - Cheltenham scored four runs on just one hit. Finn Kopp, Nate Batiancila, and Eamon Ivory drew three straight walks to start the rally, a run scored on an error, another crossed on a wild pitch, and a two-run single by Dugan capped the big inning for the Panthers.

New Hope-Solebury 12 , Lower Moreland 1
New Hope finished with 11 hits, drew seven walks and took advantage of five errors, and then walked off Lower Moreland with six runs in the sixth inning for the mercy-rule shortened 12-1 win.
Blake McCagg was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the New Hope hit parade in the win.
Key Players: NH-S-Blake McCagg (3-for-4, HR, double, 4 RBIs, 2 runs), Anthony Whelan (WP, 6 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 10 Ks; 2-for-4, double, 1 RBI)
Key Inning: Bottom of the 2nd - Leading 2-1, New Hope scored three times to stretch the lead. With one out, JT Bach hit an RBI single, followed by a two-run home run by Blake McCagg.
New Hope coach Tony Vlahovic:
“The big righty (Anthony Whalen) had good control of all his pitches. He worked ahead and didn't yield an earned run over six innings. Ant’s composure on the hill is impressive. Definitely a bulldog who wants the ball."
–Offensively: “We got some clutch hitting from JT Bach, Blake McCagg and Nathan Plebani. I loved the way these guys put quality at bats together on a tough weather hitting day.”

Upper Moreland 2, William Tennent 0
Nick Simons dominated on the mound, and then got some help in the top of the seventh, as Upper Moreland squeaked out a pitchers’ duel on the road by a 2-0 final score against William Tennent.
Simons allowed just one hit, a triple in the fifth inning, and then shook off a pair of errors to strike 
out the side in the seventh to finish off the complete-game shutout.
“‘Squirrel’ Simons was the best I’ve ever seen him today, 16 Ks and one hit, plus 75 percent strikes of 101 pitches,” said UM coach Jim Fasano. “The young man has turned himself from an 11U travel ball cut into a high school ace, and Holy Family’s #1 recruit, through the sheer force of his own work ethic and desire. I suppose it goes to show that if they don’t score, they can’t win.”
Key Players: UM-Nick Simons (WP, 7 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 16 Ks), Jackson Townsend (2-for-4), Lucas Zipper (2-for-3, 1 RBI), Jimmy Murray (2-for-3); WT - Mike Woehr (4 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K)
Key Inning: Top of the 7th- Michael Harter was hit by a pitch to lead off the single, and then Jackson Townsend singled to put two-on with nobody out. After a sac bunt by Chase Rampulla advanced the runners, Chase Moore drove in one with a RBI groundout, and then Lucas Zipper made it 2-0 with a RBI single.
UM coach Jim Fasano:
“They’re not all going to be easy, and this one was certainly not. Mike Woehr is a quality pitcher going to PSU Abington next year and will be a really nice addition to that program. He’s started against us probably six times over his four years at Tennent, and we basically never hit him, plus he controls the running game extremely well. 
(That) means we need to get leadoff guys on and string multiple hits together, which we did not do against him.”
–Props: “Mike Harter had three good at bats today and got hit leading off the eighth inning to get us our first leadoff runner since the top of the first. Mike is like a ball magnet, and while I don’t enjoy seeing kids get hit, I have to respect the ones who don’t get out of the way when their team needs a baserunner.
“Jackson Townsend had two hits, Chase ‘the Bunting Machine’ Rampulla laid down a big sacrifice for us in the second, and Chase Moore did a job with runners on second and third and one out to drive in what became the winning run.
“Lucas Zipper, in his first starting DH role, had two hits as did Jimmy Murray. Zip also drove in our second run with a nice single up the middle. Both guys benefited from wind aided pop ups but as they say, hits are hits and nobody remembers how it happened. Plus, 2-for-4, what’s the score.
“On the few balls Simons allowed in play our defense was good, as it’s been all year. Just a great group of kids and it’s a nice feeling for me going into games expecting them to perform and execute situational baseball.
:Another big one tomorrow. We’re in the meat of the season now and this is high school baseball, so every game is huge.”

Quakertown 14, Abington 2
After jumping out to a lead in the second inning, Quakertown put a resounding finishing touch on this one, scoring 10 runs in the last three innings to post the 14-2 win.
The Panthers finished with 14 runs on 13 hits. Seven different players had hits, including CJ Peacher, who went 3-for-3 with a double and a triple, and Logan Niewoehner who had two hits, a double and four RBIs.
Key Players: Q-CJ Peacher (3-for-3, double, triple, 3 RBIs, 2 runs), Logan Niewoehner (2-for-5, double, 4 RBIs), Carter Tucholski (2-for-4, double, 2 RBIs), Brady Martin (2-for-4), Colin Tenney (WP, 6 IP,3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 Ks). A-Gavin Grasso (2-for-4, 1 RBI)
Key Inning: Top of the 2nd - After the first two batters reached on an error and a walk, Chase Davis drove home the game’s first run with a sac fly. Two batters later, CJ Peacher had a two-run triple, and Justin Hankinson drove in the final run of the inning with an RBI single to center.
Quakertown coach Jon Pallone:
“We’re in the next stage of the season. It was great to open up league play with a W, but we have to get right back to it tomorrow. I love the three-game series. It adds a whole other element to the game.”
--Props: “CJ Peacher had a fantastic day, reaching base four times with three RBIs. Logan Niewoehner and Carter Tucholski had multi-hit games with a double each as well.
“Colin Tenney was solid on the mound. He isn’t committed anywhere yet, but he’s going to make a program very happy next year. He’s really grown as a pitcher, and it’s been fun to watch.”

Hatboro-Horsham 12, Plymouth Whitemarsh 0 (5 innings)
After a pair of tough, non-league losses, Hatboro-Horsham wanted to start league play with a big win, and did just that by going on the road and blasting Plymouth Whitemarsh by a 12-0 in five innings.
As much fun as the Hatters had at the plate, with 12 runs on 11 hits, pitcher Shane Mills dominated on the mound, with a five-inning no-hitter, allowing just three walks and striking out seven in an
82-pitch masterpiece.
Key Players: HH-Shane Mills (5 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 7 K), Kenny Lutz (3-for-4, triple, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Chase Canney (1-for-2, triple, 1 RBI, 3 runs), Cole Incudine (2-for-3, 2 RBIs), Makhi English (2-for-2, 3 runs, 1 RBI).
Key Inning: Top of the 2nd - Leading 1-0, the Hatters did damage with two outs, starting with a RBI single by English, and then back-to-back RBI triples by Kenny Lutz and Chase Canney to make it 4-0. Another run scored on an error.
H-H coach Andy Fisher:
--Mills in command: “Shane Mills was great today. But that’s been Shane for the past three years for this program. We expect this type of performance from Shane. His fastball command was the best I have seen it. He was able to get ahead early in the count, which allowed him to use all his pitches effectively. I don’t care how many innings it was today. When you hold a team like PW to zero hits that’s impressive.”
–Offensive outburst: “On offense I thought we had great at bats all game long. We were able to get into their bullpen early and often and that is huge in a three-game series. Kenny Lutz got us going in the second inning with a two-RBI triple and we never really looked back.
“As a coaching staff, we have been preaching about the importance of quality at bats and seeing more pitches. I thought we executed that well today. We had contributions from every guy in our lineup today. It was a great team win to start league play.”

Upper Dublin 7, Wissahickon 5
Upper Dublin notched a third straight division win, jumping up by six runs through five innings, and then had to hold off a Wissahickon rally in the seventh to post the 7-5 home win in the first of three between the Liberty Division rivals.
The Cardinals scored seven runs on 10 hits in building a 7-1 lead after six innings, only to see the Trojans with five straight two-out hits to get within two, before reliever Noah Watson recorded a strikeout to end the game and pick up the save.
