SOL Freedom Division
Upper Moreland 2, Springfield Twp 1 (8 innings)
Upper Moreland is still unbeaten and atop the Freedom Division standings, but Tuesday was anything but easy.
Chase Rampulla’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth gave the Golden Bears the 2-1 extra inning victory over visiting Springfield.
The Spartans led this game through four innings, and starting pitcher Matt Sokel was in total control. But UM managed a run in the fifth, which ended up taking the game to extras where the home team emerged with the win.
“Good teams win games a bunch of ways, and they’re not all going to be easy,” said Golden Bears coach Jim Fasano. “Springfield’s ‘Pooch’ Sokol was awesome on the mound today.”

Key Inning: Bottom of the 8th - Jimmy Murray led off the inning by taking a walk, pinch runner Jake Gibbs stole second, and then after another walk, Rampulla’s single to right drove in the game-winning run and walked it off for the Bears.
UM coach Jim Fasano:
“Another tight game with a well-coached team in Springfield, and thankfully this time we came out on top thanks to 6.2 innings of 0 ER by the android himself, Cannon Campbell, and 1.1 perfect innings from Luke Sword.
“Canny had all three of his pitches working today, fielded his position like the athlete he is, and induced a bunch of soft contact. Luke had two hits and hit three balls hard, was also outstanding on the mound today.
“It’s just a pleasure watching two guys absolutely pound the zone, forcing the other team to hit their way on. Cannon threw 88 pitches and 60 for strikes, Luke threw 11 strikes in 13 pitches.
“Cannon’s a heck of a basketball player and I respect his passion, but the list of quality 6’5” left- handed pitchers is an extremely short one. And Lukie’s a D1 scholarship kicker/punter, who’s so naturally gifted at baseball that he’d be great at whatever sport he chose to play in college.”
–Offensively: “Huge walk-off hit from Chase ‘Cheeto’ Rampulla to score Jake Gibbs, running in place of Jimmy Murray, who led off the inning with a walk. Jakie Poo stole second to get into scoring position, and previously Jimmy drove in the game tying run with a deep sac fly. Needless to say, heck of a game from the combination of guys in the 8 hole.”

Cheltenham 7, New Hope-Solebury 3
After a tough, one-run loss at New Hope Monday, Cheltenham needed a big, bounce-back win on Tuesday. The Panthers trailed early but answered right back and took the game over on the way to the 7-3 win over the visiting Lions.
New Hope led 2-0 and then 3-2, before a three-spot by Cheltenham gave it the lead for good. Reliever Emile Chanoine pitched four shutout innings to shut down the Lions.
Offensively, Finn Kopp had a triple, a double and two RBIs.
Key Players: C-Emile Chanoine (WP, 4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K; 2-for-3, 2 runs), Finn Kopp (2-for-4, double, triple, 2 RBIs), Nate Leary (2-for-4, double, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Jack Haugen (2-for-3, double, 2 RBIs).

Key Inning: Bottom of the 2nd - Trailing 3-2, a pair of one-out walks got Cheltenham started, and Nate Leary tied it up with a RBI single. Jack Haugen hit a two-run double to right field to give his team the lead for good.
Cheltenham coach Lukas Nakkula:
“It was definitely a big bounce back win for us. We played much better defensively today, which was really important. Nate Leary and Emile Chanoine were great on the mound today. We hit the ball great throughout the game which was great to see and had to battle back after being down early in the game.
“Overall, a big win for us today.”

William Tennent 9, Lower Moreland 3
Quality pitching and timely offense can lead to good things happening for a team, and William Tennent has been on a roll of late. Tuesday, the Panthers picked up their third straight win, 9-3, over Lower Moreland.
Aiden Wilkowski did the job on the mound with a complete-game effort for Tennent.
While at the plate, the team scored four times in the second and three times in the third to take command. They finished with eight hits, drew seven walks and took advantage of six LM errors.
Key Players: WT - Aiden Wilkowski (WP, 7 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 7 K), Lucas Lorenz (3-for-4, double, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Jordan Lawson (2-for-4, 1 RBI).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 2nd - After an error put a runner on to lead off the inning, Kyle White picked up an RBI single to tie the game. With two outs, another error plated a run, Lucas Lorenz had an RBI single, and Brandon Alburger made it 4-1 with an RBI double to left.
Tennent coach Lucas Denzi:
“We got a great performance from senior Aiden Wilkowski on the mound. He did a tremendous job mixing his pitches, keeping hitters off balance and working ahead in the count. He has stacked a few quality starts together, and it was nice to see the offense come through this time and give him the proper support.”
–Offensively: “At the plate, the guys did a nice job working the count and putting balls in play. It was an all-around effort, and I’m happy with the guys playing a complete game to get the win.”

SOL Liberty Division
Quakertown 9, Wissahickon 1
Saddled with a three-game losing streak that saw it give up 35 runs in three games, Quakertown needed a bounce-back win in a big way, and that’s exactly what it got.
The Panthers scored early and often and rode the pitching of Chase Davis and reliever Brett Miracle to hand Wissahickon a 9-1 defeat on Tuesday afternoon.
After Monday’s loss to Wissahickon, Quakertown entered Tuesday one-game behind the Trojans in the Liberty Division standings. After Tuesday, the two teams are tied with Plymouth Whitemarsh with 7-4 league records.
Key Players: Q - Chase Davis (WP, 5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 K), Brett Miracle (2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K), CJ Peacher (2-for-3, triple, 2 runs), Logan Niewoehner (double, 3 RBIs), Carter Tucholski (2 RBIs), Brady Martin (2 RBIs).
Key Inning: Top of the 3rd - Quakertown upped its lead to 6-0. A hit-by-pitch and two walks loaded the bases with nobody out, and Carter Tucholski cashed in with an RBI single. Logan Niewoehner followed with a bases-clearing double and then an RBI single by Chase Davis finished off the scoring for the inning.
Quakertown coach Jon Pallone:
“That was a huge win against a good team. The last few days we haven’t played well, and it’s been really frustrating. It was good to go out and play how we know we can play today.
“Chase Davis was aggressive and had great stuff today. He’s been mostly out of the pen for us this year, but he stepped up when he knew he’d have the opportunity
“In the top of the first, their second baseman, Jack Weiss, made an amazing diving play in the hole to get our leadoff hitter Peyton Trappler out, and I thought to myself, ‘Are you kidding me?’ Then, CJ Peacher hit a two-strike single and I felt much better.
“Logan Niewoehner had a great double with bases loaded to open the game up for us.”

Plymouth Whitemarsh 12, Abington 6
With its fourth straight win, the hit parade continued for Plymouth Whitemarsh on Tuesday, as it rallied to get past Abington 12-6, and moved into a three-way tie for first place in the SOL Liberty Division standings.
The Colonials, who have scored 10 or more runs in this four-game stretch, trailed early, by as much as 4-1 after three innings, but offensively they came alive again, scoring 11 runs over the last four innings to earn the win.
PW had 12 runs on 14 hits, led by Luke Fresta who had three hits, two doubles and two RBIs, while Mason Eagland had a home run and two RBIs.
Key Players: PW - Luke Fresta (3-for-4, 2 doubles, 3 RBIs), Mason Eagland (2-for-3, HR, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Michael Bongard (3-for-4, double, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Spencer Rosen (WP, 4 1/3 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K).

Key Inning: Top of the 5th - Trailing 4-3, PW got things started with a leadoff single by Spencer Rosen. Max Eagland drove in two with a double to left field and Luke Fresta had an RBI single to make it 6-4.

“We really had to dig deep and grind this one out today. Abington hit the ball well early, but our guys did a nice job of hitting their way back into it.”
–Props: “Spencer Rosen settled in a bit, and we pieced together the bullpen to give our bats a chance to take over.
“Max Eagland, Lucas Fresta, and Michael Bongard gave us big contributions at the plate. Max and Lucas have been hot, but today was a nice breakout game for Mikey. He helped us with his bat, his baserunning, and his arm with a big outfield assist late in the game. He's a senior captain and he played every bit of that role this afternoon.
“We had multiple doubles today and another home run from Mason Eagland. These big hits are driving our offense, and different guys each day are getting them.”

Upper Dublin 7, Hatboro-Horsham 1
Early runs set the tone, and pitching took over from there, as Upper Dublin took Game 2 against Hatboro-Horsham with a solid 7-1 win on Tuesday.
UD’s Chase Greiner gave up just one unearned run in the third inning, going six innings with seven strikeouts to pick up the win.
Offensively, the Flying Cardinals scored seven runs on 12 hits.
Key Players: UD - Chase Greiner (WP, 6 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 7 K), Anthony Hammill (3-for-3, double, 1 RBI), Gavin Litten (2-for-4, double), Luke Caron (2-for-3, 2 RBIs)
Key Inning: Bottom of the 1st - Four straight hits got UD started quickly, including a leadoff single by Eddie Stoffel, an RBI double by Matt Logerstedt and back-to-back singles by Gavin Litten and Luke Caron, who drove in two.
UD coach Ed Wall:
“Today was our Senior Day, and Chase and our bats got the job done. Anthony Hammill stung the ball all game. The top of the order hurt the ball multiple times today which led to a big inning or two for us.
“We did some little things well today. Eddie Stoffel made a plus play diving up the middle early in the game. Cole Becker laid a great sac bunt down on a tough pitch that led to runs with a Chase Greiner line drive single at the bottom of our order.
“After scoring first, I was happy that we continued to extend it throughout the game. We need to continue to keep pressure on teams.”

Neshaminy 5, Council Rock South 0
Thursday in a mercy-rule win over Harry S Truman, Neshaminy senior Chase Bonner pitched a four-inning perfect game, not allowing a baserunner and striking out six.
Bonner returned to the mound Tuesday against CR South and over seven innings, once again did 
not allow a hit as his team won its seventh straight game, this time by a 5-0 final score.
In 21 innings pitched in league games, Bonner is 4-0 and hasn’t allowed an earned run, and has given up just five hits.
“Chase Bonner was absolutely electric today,” said coach Dan Toner. “Coming off a perfect game last outing to follow it up with a no hitter today is uncharted territory.
“Chase is an elite competitor. We, at Neshaminy, are fortunate we get to experience him taking the mound.”
Key Players: N - Chase Bonner (WP, 7 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 6 K), Brandon Lall (2-for-3, 1 RBI), Matt Gryn (2-for-4), Nick Sassano (2-for-3, 1 RBI).
Key Inning: Top of the 3rd - The first four batters reached, two on errors and two on RBI singles by Dan Marable and Brandon Lall. Sam Hitchen added a RBI single later in the inning with two outs.
Neshaminy coach Dan Toner:
“We played fantastic defense behind Chase today as well. In most no hitters, there are always
some big-time plays made. Nick Sassano had a fantastic full layout in center early on in the game, Dylan Cloud and Brandon Lall made some big plays in the infield as well. Often in no-hitters, the catcher (Sam Hitchen) and pitch caller (Jess Toner) get overlooked and they were just as effective with executing their game plan today.”
–Offensively: “Our offense started off hot and then cooled down as the game progressed. There was a big velo change today from yesterday, and CR South’s pitchers did a good job of getting us on our front foot. We had a couple opportunities to put up some more runs but weren’t able to get it done.
“Brandon Lall, Matt Gryn and Nick Sassano collected multi-hit games. They have all been seeing the ball very good lately.”

Council Rock North 6, Harry S Truman 4
Trailing by two, CR North put up a four-spot in the bottom of the sixth and that was the difference in the Indians’ 6-4 win over visiting Truman on Tuesday.
A string of four straight singles was the difference in the critical sixth. Truman had just gone up 4-2 in the top of the sixth.
Nine different players had hits for CR North.
Key Players: CRN - Riley McGurney (WP, 1 1/3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K); Kyle Book (3-for-3, 2 runs), Preston Martin (2 RBIs).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 6th - With one out, Anthony Fedejko singled to get things started followed by a Riley McGurney single. Zack Ruple followed with an RBI single, and then Preston Martin put the team in front with a two-run single. He later scored on a wild pitch.
CR North coach Matt Schram:
“Every game in our league is tough. Sophomore Riley McGurney came in relief to shut the door on the mound, and he also had his first and only varsity at bat with a big hit to start the rally in the bottom (of the sixth).”
Next up: Game 3 of the series is set for Wednesday at Truman, as CR North looks for the sweep.

SOL Colonial Division
Pennridge 10, Central Bucks South 1
When teams are playing well, five quick runs in the first inning are awfully difficult for an opponent to overcome, and that proved the case for Pennridge Tuesday afternoon in a 10-1 rout of visiting CB South.
The win was first-place Pennridge’s seventh straight.
Second baseman Tim Croyle had three hits, including a home run, a double, a triple and six RBIs to lead the Rams.
Key Players: P - Tim Croyle (3-for-4, HR, double, triple, 6 RBIs, 2 runs), Wyatt Moyer (HR, 3 RBIs), Anthony Cox (2-for-3); Oliver Olson (WP, 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 1st - Tommy Ginnetti opened the inning with a double and scored two batters later on a Tim Croyle RBI triple. TJ McGuigan followed with an RBI single, Wyatt Moyer later had a three-run home run to make it a 5-0 game.
Pennridge coach Dan Long:
“Oliver Olson gave us another great start. Our starting pitchers continue to give us a chance to win every day.
“We are putting together quality at-bats up and down the lineup, including a six-RBI day from Timmy Croyle.”

Central Bucks West 8, Central Bucks East 2
CB West is on a roll, and Tuesday it started with a seven-spot in the top of the first. The Bucks never looked back on the way to their fourth win in five games, this time by an 8-2 final score
against rival CB East.
The Bucks had four hits, four walks, a sac fly and a sac bunt in that first inning.
Jack Hogenauer came out of the bullpen to throw three shutout innings without a hit or a walk, and eight strikeouts.
Key Players: CBW - Jacob Greer (WP, 4 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 7 K; 2-for-4, 2 doubles, 2 RBIs), Jack Hogenauer (Save, 3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K), Colin Lydon (2-for-3, HR, double, 2 RBIs).
Key Inning: Top of the 1st - Jacob Greer got things started with a double to right. After a walk, Rob Seaner bunted the runners over, and a sac fly by Colin Lydon put the Bucks on the scoreboard. Kellen O’Connor followed with an RBI single, two runners scored on passed balls, another on a balk, and then Greer had his second double of the inning, driving in two more to make it 7-0.
Next up: CB West goes for the sweep at home against CB East on Thursday afternoon.

Souderton 6, North Penn 1
After a heart-stopping win with late-game heroics Monday, Souderton took that momentum and ran with it Tuesday night under the lights.
The Indians overcame an early deficit, pounded out 10 hits, led by red-hot Evan Divens who had three hits, a double and two RBIs, and ran away from visiting North Penn by a 6-1 final score.
The win was the fifth in a row for Souderton, which remains tied for second and one game back of first place Pennridge in the Colonial Division standings.
Key Players: S - Evan Divens (3-for-4, double, 2 RBIs), Brett Pollock (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Gavin Wisnoski (2 RBIs); Johnny Brywa (WP, 6 1/3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 6 K).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 2nd - Trailing 1-0, Souderton scored two, taking advantage of a hit batter and an error, and then a RBI groundout by Gavin Wisnoski and an RBI single by Evan Divens.
Souderton coach Mike Childs:
“It is fun to see our bats start to come alive and the players believe in their ability. Seven out of nine batters got a hit, and all nine managed to get on base somehow. We are getting timely hits that we did not get in the beginning of the season. Evan Divens led the way and is delivering with guys in scoring position.
“Johnny Byrwa did a nice job keeping the North Penn batters in check. He has been doing a great job for us all year.”
