SOL Liberty Division
Plymouth Whitemarsh 14, Quakertown 10
Trailing after four innings, Plymouth Whitemarsh needed to find a way to win after dropping Monday’s series opener at Quakertown. And the Colonials did it with offense - a lot of it - with nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win by a football score, 14-10, on Tuesday afternoon.
PW scored 14 runs on 16 hits and also took advantage of four walks and four Quakertown errors.
Brody Stump had four hits, and Spencer Rosen and Lucas Fresta had three hits each.
“After really struggling to drive in runs last night, in multiple situations, it was great to see guys build strong at bats today and pick up a ton of timely hits,” said PW coach Chris Manero.
“We made a few adjustments in the order for today, and Spencer Rosen and Brody Stump combined to go 7-for-8 with four RBIs in the 1, 2 spots. You can't ask for much more at the top of the lineup.”

Key Inning: Bottom of the 5th - Trailing 6-5, PW scored six runs to take control. Seven straight
singles - by Dominic Cruisculo, Alex Kriebel, Spencer Rosen, Brody Stump, Mason Eagland, Wooldridge, and Lucas Fresta - blew the game open.
PW coach Chris Manero:
“We were also able to spread some hits out today, and it felt good to see guys like Lucas Fresta and Dom Criscuolo have big games in the 5 and 8 spots.
“Brandon Wooldridge got only his second start of the season, and he made the most of it with a couple of hits. It was a full team effort on a day when we felt like we needed it bad.
“I was very proud of the way this group bounced back after a tough one-run loss last night.
–Red hot: “Brody Stump has been special this season. I've been coaching here for over 20 years, and I haven't seen many guys put together a junior season like he is.
“After today, he's hitting .600 in 47 plate appearances, and that includes 11 doubles, a home run today, and 17 RBIs. He has 10 multi-hit games and may be on track to set a single season hits record for us. Truly remarkable from a kid who works real hard at it and has earned every bit of it.”

Wissahickon 5, Hatboro-Horsham 3
Wissahickon seems to be finding its groove, and for the second day in a row, the Trojans found a way to get it done against Hatboro-Horsham, leading from start to finish in a 5-3 road victory.
The Trojans had five runs on six hits and also took advantage of six H-H errors. They led 4-0 at one point, only to see the Hatters cut it to 4-3 in the fourth. Relief pitcher Eugene Kwon came out of the bullpen to get the final out of the fourth and then tossed three shutout innings for the save.
“It was good to carry the momentum from yesterday into today,” said Trojans coach Andy Noga. “Defensively, Dylan Shanter made two outstanding diving catches to take away extra-base hits for H-H. Charlie Ajemian competed well on the mound for us and then turned it over to Eugene Kwon, who was able to shut the door on their rally. Eugene has started for us the past two league weeks, so this was a different role for him, and he stepped up in a big way to get those final outs.”

Key Inning: Top of the 5th - After H-H had rallied to cut the lead to 4-3, Wissahickon answered with a key insurance run. Charlie Ajemian reached on an error, Thomas Puerzer singled, and a sac fly by Jack Weiss plated the run.
Wissahickon coach Andy Noga:
“Offensively, Thomas Puerzer continues to do whatever the team needs. He had a big two-strike hit early to extend the lead to 2-0 and later dropped down a textbook bunt for another hit. Jack Weiss and Nate Binkley also had good days at the plate.
“H-H is a very talented team that doesn’t go away, so I’m proud of our guys for battling out another win. We’re expecting another tough one on Thursday back at our place.”
Next up: Wissahickon looks for the three-game sweep in the series finale Thursday at home against Quakertown.

Upper Moreland 8, Lower Moreland 6
Host Lower Moreland battled to the last out and made life difficult for Upper Moreland, but the first-place Golden Bears found a way to hang on for the 8-6 victory in Game 2 of the series on Tuesday.
UM - which only had four hits but took advantage of 10 walks and four LM errors - led 8-3 going into the bottom of the seventh. The Lions scored three runs to get within two, but after a two-run double by Kevin Fay, the third out was recorded on a play at the plate to end the game and the rally.
Key Players: UM-Chase Moore (2-for-5, 1 RBI, 2 runs, 2 SBs), Cannon Campbell (WP, 5 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K)
LM- Kevin Fay (3-for-4, double, 2 RBIs), Gavin Blumhardt (3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 1 K).
Key Inning: Top of the 4th - Up 4-2, UM tacked on three more for a little breathing room. After a pair of walks to start the inning, an error scored one, and Chase Moore followed with an RBI single. Another ground ball error plated another run to make it 7-2.
UM coach Jim Fasano:
“Another competitive game against Lower Moreland. Give those guys lots of credit, they never quit and put together good at bats late in games.”
–Props: “Cannon Campbell had a solid performance today, threw some good off-speed pitches and hummed a few fastballs in there pretty nicely. He even gave a speech to his teammates after the game. That kid is going places.
“Two hits for Chase Moore, who continues to overcome a slow start to show he’s the best all-around shortstop in our league. Kid has both great baseball and pop culture IQ. He named all of Snow White’s seven dwarves at the cage the other day. He is going to make a college coach very happy in two years and will continue to make this high school coach very happy for the remainder of this one and the next.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow. We play 15 league games in five weeks, so these practices are invaluable. The beauty of baseball, competitive sports, and life in general is there’s always room for improvement. Growth mindsets for everyone, especially me.”

New Hope-Solebury 10, Springfield Twp 8
After watching a four-run lead disappear in a loss to Springfield one day earlier, New Hope-Solebury led by five runs through three innings of Tuesday’s rematch between the two teams, only to see the Spartans rally again to go up a run after a big fifth inning.
But this time, the Lions had an answer to the tune of three runs in the bottom of the sixth to post an important 10-8 win.
“Throughout the years, our games with Springfield have always been battles,” said NH-S coach Tony Vlahovic. “Today, the Cardiac Kids of New Hope came back again in the sixth inning. Down 8-7, JT Bach and Blake McCagg set the table for Lucas ‘Bam Bam’ Kevorkian, who hit a go-head home run.”

“Our hitting has kept us in a lot of games so far. Nathan Plebani has been hitting the ball hard all season and today his line drive emptied the bases with a grand slam.
“Gavin Caponegro got his first start of the year after recovering from an arm injury over the summer. He was impressive after a tough start. His pitches had a lot of movement, and it was great to see his confidence come after a tough offseason. JT Bach came in the seventh to shut the door.
“Overall, a good team win. We have some things to clean up, but I am happy with our progress this season.”
Next up: The deciding game of the series is slated for Thursday as New Hope plays at Springfield.

Council Rock South 17, Bensalem 12
Offense was hardly at a premium in Game 2 of this series, as the teams combined for 29 runs on 27 hits, with CR South emerging with the wild 17-12 win for its second win over Bensalem in as many days.
The Golden Hawks scored 17 runs in the first six innings. They had 15 hits - eight extra base hits - and drew 14 walks as a team.
After a six-spot in the bottom of the fourth drew Bensalem to within 11-10, CR South exploded with two more in the fifth and four in the sixth to give the necessary cushion to put the game away.
Key Players: CRS - Reed Curtier (4-for-5, 2 triples, 5 RBIs, 3 runs), Jack Reynolds (3-for-3, double, 2 RBIs, 3 runs), Caleb Dubas (2-for-4, double, 3 RBIs), Johnny Rosenblatt (2-for-3, 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, 2 runs)

Key Inning: Top of the 4th - Leading 7-4, CR South added four more. Owen McLean led off with a triple and scored on a Reed Curtier RBI single. Johnny Rosenblatt had a two-run, bases-loaded double later in the inning, and Jack Reynolds added an RBI single to make it a 11-4 game.
CR South coach Greg Paprocki:
“Good team win. We are swinging the bats really well as a team, which is a huge bright spot.
“We have a lot to clean up defensively, so we’re looking forward to having a good practice tomorrow.”

Pennsbury 11, Council Rock North 1 (5 innings)
Early run support and a strong effort on the mound from Owen Hawkes set the stage for an 11-1 mercy-rule shortened victory for Pennsbury over visiting CR North on Tuesday.
The Falcons pounded out 11 runs on 10 hits in just four at-bats.
Owen Hawkes allowed just one run over five innings on the mound.
Key Players: P-Owen Hawkes (WP, 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K), Carlton Crane (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Ty Lee (2-for-3, double, 1 RBI), Danny Seidler (2-for-2, double, 1 RBI), Henry Garlits (2-for-3, 2 RBIs).
Key Inning: Bottom of the 3rd - Up 2-0, Pennsbury added seven more to blow it wide open. After a leadoff single by Brandon Zuckerman, Ty Lee hit an RBI double and came around to score on an error. Danny Seidler added an RBI double, and the team added two more runs on passed balls and another on an error.
Pennsbury coach Joe Pesci:
“We’re doing a great job of taking advantage of, or putting the ball in play hard, even if we struggle in an inning. Sometimes, it takes us a little bit of time. The past two games, we didn’t do much in the first inning, but then we jumped right back into it. Then, we’re scoring in bunches, and I tell the kids all the time, typically, if you play a seven-inning game, you’ve got to score in four innings, and you’ve got to score multiple runs in one of those innings. And we are scoring in bunches.
“So, I am just really happy with these guys. Carlton Crane has been on a tear. Ty Lee has been hitting the crap out of the ball. And then Danny Seidler and Henry Garlits had two hits apiece today.
“We also did a great job with bunting today. We dropped three or four bunts and ran the bases well. So, we did a lot of great things today. I challenged the kids before the game to put a complete game together, and besides giving up that run in the seventh, we really did.
“We played errorless baseball - flawless defense - and Owen Hawkes was absolutely phenomenal on the mound.”

Neshaminy 13, Harry S Truman 2 (5 innings)
A seven-run first inning gave Neshaminy the early lead, and it never looked back on the way to another mercy-rule victory, this time by a 13-2 final score at Harry S Truman.
Starting with a Mike Sassano single, Neshaminy had seven runs on seven hits, and combined with a walk, an error and a hit batter, it led to a huge inning that the Tigers would never come back from.
Key Players: N-Noah Wallace (3-for-3, double, triple, 1 RBI, 3 runs), Mike Sassano (3-for-3, 1 RBI, 2 runs), Chase Bonner (3-for-4, 2 RBIs), Matt Gryn (3-for-4, 3 RBIs; WP, 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K).
Key Inning: Top of the 1st - After Mike Sassano’s single and then a Dan Marable walk, Chase Bonner hit an RBI single, and another run scored on an error. Noah Wallace followed with an RBI double, Matt Gryn an RBI single, Nick Sassano an RBI double, and then RBI singles by Ben Flynn and Mike Sassano.
Neshaminy coach Dan Toner:
“We had another big day up and down the lineup. All the players are doing a great job keeping the ball out of the air and moving runners.
“Matt Gryn had a real nice day on the mound and at the plate. He is doing everything possible to contribute to the team.
“We gave up two runs in the first inning, but it was one of those things where the ball snuck through an opening or popped up and dropped in. That’s just baseball. But we did a fantastic job scoring in multiple innings to take Game 2.
“Chase Bonner was 2-for-4 today with a couple RBIs. He hasn’t had much to hit this year (17 walks on the season) but today he made the most of it.
“Noah Wallace and Mike Sassano continued their success and delivered a multi-hit game again.”

Pennridge 3, Central Bucks East 2
After Tyler Muszi put CB East in front with a solo home run in the top half of the inning, Pennridge answered with two in the bottom of the third, and from there, the pitching held up as the Rams beat the Patriots by one run for the second game in a row, this time by a 3-2 final score.
Pennridge’s Oliver Olson and Anthony Cox combined on a three-hitter, as the team pulled out its fourth straight division win.
Key Players: P-Noah Keating (2-for-3, 2 doubles, 1 RBI); Oliver Olson (WP, 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K), Anthony Cox (Save, 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 0 K)

Key Inning: Bottom of the 3rd - Trailing 2-1, Tommy Ginnetti led off the inning with a single, Tim Croyle hit a one-out double to put runners on second and third. One run scored on a groundout, and the go-ahead run on a RBI double by Noah Keating.
Pennridge coach Dan Long:
“We are getting contributions offensively from different guys each game, but our pitching has been a constant. Oliver Olson battled through five, before passing it onto Anthony Cox.
“Today was another team effort for us as a group.”

Souderton 10, Central Bucks South 4
Seven runs in the first three innings took away some of the drama for Souderton, which has lived on close games thus far this season, as the Indians won for a second straight day against CB South on Tuesday night.
Five of the Indians’ seven league games prior to Tuesday were decided by one run. Another was a two-run game. So, the early runs gave the team much needed breathing room.
Souderton had 10 runs on 13 hits, including a pinch-hit home run by Ares Deardorff.
Key Players: S- Colesen Hoffman (3-for-4, 2 RBIs), Trent Lutz (2-for-3), Ares Deardoff (HR, 1 RBI), Johnny Byrwa (WP, 4 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 8 K), Ethan Lesh (3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K).

Key Inning: Top of the 1st - An error on a grounder by Gavin Wisnoski started the inning, Evan Divins drew a one-out walk and Trent Lutz singled to load the bases. A two-out single to left by Hoffman gave Souderton the 2-0 lead.
Souderton coach Mike Childs:
“It is good to see our bats are starting to come alive. We hit up and down the lineup tonight with four guys having multiple hits.
“Colesen Hoffman had a great day at the plate with three hits. We are very impressed how he is maturing behind the dish and now at the plate as a sophomore.
“It also feels good to finally win a game by more than one or two runs, considering our first league games have all been by that margin.”

Central Bucks West 3, North Penn 1
Monday, it took a late-game comeback. Tuesday, CB West followed that win with a dominant pitching performance to eke out a pitchers’ duel and a 3-1 win at North Penn.
Jacob Greer allowed only one run through six innings for the Bucks, while Jack Hogenauer finished off the seventh for the save.
CB West won the game on just three hits and one walk, while North Penn managed just five hits and one walk.
Key Players: CBW - Jacob Greer (WP, 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K), Jack Hogenauer (Save, 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB; 1-for-3, double)
NP-Isaac Whaley (LP, 7 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K).
Key Inning: Top of the 6th - Up 1-0, CB West picked up two key insurance runs. Kenneth McGinnis walked to lead off the inning, Jack Hogenauer roped a one-out double to put runners on second and third, one run scored on a wild pitch and another on an error.
CB West coach Tom Spratt:
“It was a huge win for us. A key run in the second came on a bunt by (Chase) Sabol that led to a throwing error, scoring O’Connor. O’Connor has been doing a great job getting bat on ball and got on base with a leadoff single.
“On the mound, Greer was solid through six innings, and Hogenauer came in to close out the seventh. Both did a great job working ahead of batters and filling up the strike zone. Something we have struggled with, so it was nice to see the improvement there.
Next up: CB West hosts North Penn in Game 3 of the series on Thursday.

Non-League
Cheltenham 3, Methacton 1
After a tough week against Freedom Division-leading Upper Moreland a week ago, Cheltenham made it 2-for-2 in non-league games so far this week with Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Methacton.
Jack Haugen’s one-out single scored one run, and another crossed on an error to break a 1-1 and give the Panthers the lead.
Reliever Emile Chanoine then set Methacton down over the final two innings, allowing only one hit with two strikeouts to earn the save for starter Sean Trainor.
Next up: Non-league week continues Friday as Cheltenham hosts Frankford.
