ABINGTON 5, UPPER DUBLIN 4
It was a three-game series that spanned close to a month, and after splitting the first two games (Abington won the first 9-6 and UD the second 5-0), the Ghosts came up with the dramatic come-from-behind win in Saturday’s series finale.
The Ghosts trailed 4-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, and they won it when Jaiden Trifun – with two on, two outs and the Ghosts still down by a run – lined a double to center field that plated a pair and gave Abington the walk-off win.
Trifun’s game-winning hit capped a textbook 11-pitch at-bat that included fouling off three straight two-strike pitches before smashing the double to center field.
Trifun also notched the win on the mound, allowing just one hit and one run (unearned) in three-and-a-third innings in relief.
Earlier, the Cardinals had a 3-0 lead after four innings.
They scored two runs in the first. Eddie Stoffel, who doubled, scored on a single by Matthew Logerstedt, and after Luke Caron was hit by a pitch, Noah Watson singled to load the bases. Logerstedt scored the second run of the inning on a groundout.
In the fourth, UD added a run to go on top 3-0 without collecting a hit, but the Ghosts pulled to within one after a fifth inning that was highlighted by a walk, an RBI double by Phin Capone and an RBI single by Braeden Crawford that made it a 3-2 game.
A sac fly by Stoffel in the top of the sixth sent the Cards into the final inning with a 4-2 advantage,
a lead that proved to be anything but secure.
Saturday’s win was Abington’s third in four games this week.

Key inning: Bottom of seventh – Trailing 4-2, the Ghosts put three runs on the board in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off win. Gavin Grasso led off the inning with a double to center, and he scored when Phin Capone followed with a line drive double to center. With one out, Tim Campbell drew a walk, and it look as though the Cards might see their way out of the inning after the second out was recorded on a fielder’s choice. That brought Trifun to the plate, and he delivered the game-winner – a double to center field.

“It was a great comeback win. Jaiden Trifun pitched well in relief and provided the walk-off double, bringing in the game winning runs in the bottom of seventh. It was a nice team win.”
Up next: Abington will travel to Cheltenham for an SOL non-league crossover game Monday. Upper Dublin will travel to Spring-Ford Monday for a non-league game.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL 2
Four Titan hurlers combined for a four-hitter in Saturday’s non-league road game.
A two-run first inning gave the Titans a lead they would not lose.
South upped its lead to 3-1 in the fifth when Brayden Barrett, who led off the inning with a walk, scored on Sean Kivlin’s sacrifice fly.
Springside-Chestnut Hill pulled to within one but would get no closer.

Key inning: Top of first – With one out, Connor Blowers grounded a single to left, and James Schaefer followed with a single. With two outs, Sam Kiefer doubled to center, plating a pair of runs, and the Titans led 2-0 before fans had settled in their seats.

--Props: “It was a complete team win today. We played clean complimentary baseball. Brayden Barrett gave us a great start and just competed with every pitch. Sam Kiefer got the guys in the dugout up and loud with a big double to start our scoring. Sean Bulicki played some great defense to keep those vibes going, including an outfield assist to complete doubling off a guy at first.
“Sean Kivlin has been great for us in the leadoff spot and did a great job sac flying for the go ahead and eventual winning run. Shane Farrell came in and shut the door against a really good and disciplined offense.”
Up next: Central Bucks South will travel to Souderton for game one of its three-game series Monday.
