Philadelphia Catholic League 6, Bux-Mont 0
The Bux-Mont never could find its offense against the PCL in Thursday’s second round game of the Phillies Carpenter Cup Classic, managing just two hits. Four PCL pitchers combined for the shutout win.
Cheltenham senior Jack Haugen and Plymouth Whitemarsh sophomore Lucas Fresta accounted for the Bux-Mont’s only hits.
Connor Murphy (Pennridge) and Nate Hammond (Wissahickon) both threw one shutout inning. Each allowed just one hit and struck out one. Luke Caron (Upper Dublin) did not allow a hit, struck out four and allowed an unearned run in two innings of work.
The PCL scored all the runs it would need in a three-run first and then added two more in the second and a single run in the fourth.
John LaSpada (Neumann-Goretti), Alex Hisem (La Salle), Jake Gorman (Bonner-Prendie) and John Doogan (Devon Prep) combined for the shutout win.
The Bux-Mont was 1-1 in the Carpenter Cup Classic.
